Hi!
My sister in law wants to get herself a USB PAYB broadband adapter, and has tasked me with looking into it for her.
Has anyone got any recommendations for a decent service to opt for? She'll only be using it ocassionaly for internet browsing and email, no heavy downloads or anything like that.
I guess all the service providers offer similar services, but thought I'd ask for opinions on here first - cheers! :)
Your best bet would be to get a coverage check done with the providers and opt for the the best coverage. As you said all providers are currently offering a similar service. Only difference with any of the providers is the support you get if something goes wrong. I know T-mobile are really pushing the support issue as I work for them and they are pushing to offer the best support possible. Not sure on the others providers only experience I have of there support is from customers who have called and commented on how much better our support is compared to the other providers they'e used.
Of course the most important thing is the coverage in your area.
Vodafone - the pay as you go credit doesn't expire. You buy a gig at a time for 15 quid and it lasts until the gig is up. Just use it a minimum of once every 6 months.
3 charge £10 for a gig, which is cheaper, but it expires after a month. Also note 3 won't drop down to 2g, where as all of the other networks support this. Depends if your planning to use it out and about, but thats why i have an orange prepay account rather than the cheaper 3 service.

Hmm, well the vodafone option does sound more in line with how she'd be using it - i.e. not having an expiry date on when the credit would expire - cheers all! :)

just as a note three dont do this as they have to use either 02 or oranges network for there 2g as they dont have there own resulting in massive "roaming" data charges for them.
Yes, there are good reasons, but practical effect is the same - if your out and about your coverage is far poorer.
I have one for work - I'm oncall - I need remote access and EDGE is perfectly useable for RDP. With 3 I'd get nothing.
