I have been asked to find out about filters by a mate, so best place to ask I thoght would be here.
I am going to sunny desert and high altitudes, so I was wondering which filter wuld be best.
No idea where they are actually going but had a quick look and saw a thread saying that filters were pretty much a waste of time.
Cheers

Circular polarizer. Don't leave without it!
It will eliminate the haze, give you deeper blues in the sky (the sunnier the better) and make a layer between the lens and the sand.

I'd also take ND Grad filters to help balance exposure of the sky and land

A sunlit desert probably wont need an ND Grad but I'd take one anyhow ( or two, a 1 stop and 2 stop).
I'd take a CPL as sugested.
Also thing about a reverse ND grad which is very usefull for sunsets/rises but reasonably rare.
A CPL is a must! If you got the cash, go for a Hoya or higher end instead of unbranded ones.

IMO a cokin P system if he doesnt have anything is the way to go , especialy for mulit lens's and ND grads.
Edit :- or Kood like ripodd, except get the cokin CPL.
