My Canon A70 has just given up the ghost after five years good service.

Two things confuse me about the latest digital cameras. Very few have viewfinders and most have lithium batteries.I could live without a viewfinder but what if the battery runs out when you need it? Replacement lithium batteries seem to be a lot more expensive than AA's.

Is the Panasonic-Lumix-DMC-LZ10 a good replacement for the A70? My budget is max £150.

Seriously though, you can pick up a spare lithium battery for not very much at all and you'd have to be really hammering it for it to run out in one day (and the chargers aren't that big). Lithium batteries are more expensive, but you don't have to buy them constantly, so you end up saving in the long run.

Ricoh's are nice cameras - you can get the R8 from the 'Zon (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=8&url=http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0014ZCE7C/thedvdforums-21) for your budget :)

The cheapest Leica I could find was the C-LUX 2 for £200 which is above my budget.

Ricoh's look good but I was put off by reliability issues that some people were having on the link you gave.

What about the Panasonic?
