Looking for a few or maybe one big boy such as the fifth one down here (http://www.internetcamerasdirect.co.uk/list.php). Is a microdrive the same as a compact flash and will it work in my Canon G2?

There is a much bigger and cheaper selection at 7dayshop (http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=compact+flash) but no microdrive. Of the selection here I am tempted my multiple 64MBs at £18 or maybe the 128 at £44 or even the 256 at £79. They all add up to pretty much the same I guess.

I have previously explained that I want a big jobby  as i am off on holiday for a month in the summer and wont have my laptop to download.

Decisions, decisions ..........

A microdrive is literally that, a tiny hard drive in compact flash card. Up until very recently they were much bigger and cheaper per Mb than solid state, but solid state cards have plummeted in price. Personally I'd buy a couple of 256Mb cards if the camera can handle them...

64mb cards are the cheapest per MB per buck and even with a G2 you can get a lot of pics on 64mb (2272 x 1704 Normal setting = 110 approx). These cards are very small & robust - the controller's on the card so any size CF should work in a G2. There is a performance issue with CF cards and lexar appear to be faster than even a micro-drive but they are expensive. Lorenzo - I've been thinking of buying a G2 for a while now (have got a Pro70) - how do you rate it?

Thanks for the advice guys :)

I was thinking on going for a few smaller ones but as i said above am concerned about our upcoming holiday. Maybe the best issue is to get a reader and go to a cybercaf and send them home that way??

The G2 - well i have had it for such a short time and used it for even less it is difficult to rate. From what i have seen it s excellent and the image quality is better than you would expect for a sub-£1000 camera. It has lots of features and is compact and bijou ;). My friend who is an avid photographer (he had a S1? when they first came out and has since bought a Nikon for ?? £4-5K!!) was extremely impressed by the G2. In fact come to think of it he has probably used it more than I have so far :p. I know that is not the best recommendation but all I can offer you to date.

I got mine from Jessops in Nottingham for £600 which is better than all the internet prices. I have a receipt should you have problems matching that.
