That looks like a pretty good price. If you want a 6 cell battery and a bigger hard drive it might work out better to get the new one from Aldi which I think is about £100 more and I think has a 3 year warranty.
Sounds appealing to be honest. Don't want to do anything heavy weight, and price is decent too :)

Thanks OP - got one reserved. Don't need 160gb so happy to save £100 on the Aldi deal and get a battery if I need it.

Darn it. Saved me getting me boots on :(
Although this has the lesser battery in it and the 80gb hard drive - that first post says it has the 3 year warranty still same as Aldi? Is this right, can anyone confirm?
Any word Lemm?

Almost certainly not, as I believe Aldi pay extra to Medion for the extended warranty (3 year warranty is Aldi's standard policy on hardware/electonics, you just keep the receipt).
Guess the OP can confirm this one way or another, but as you say, Aldi always dish out a 3-year warranty these days.
So the OP has the wrong details down - got to be worth changing that.
Have to go see what's available locally, will be a hard decision going for the extra £100 for the bigger drive, better battery, and 2years extra warranty.
Better deal than the aspire ones that were £150 in asda.
How easy is it to upgrade to 2Gb of ram in case i fancy sticking Windows 7 on there?

Card inside the box says 1 year from date of purchase. :)
I'm pleased with mine, only downside is the 3 cell battery.
I think it looks like we're gonna try and pickup two of these. Fingers crossed i can also get the 10% staff discount if a relative buys themselves one ;)
bitterne is the only shop in Southampton that have any, this is a steal for £176, it's a rebadged MSI wind and a lot of places till sell this for £280

This only has one slot for RAM and is taken up by the 1GB module so you will have to buy a 2GB stick for it.
This RAM (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=38&url=http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.aspx?model=Akoya%20Mini%20E1210&pl=Medion&cat=RAM)
Link showing you how to fit it:

that link seems to imply that there is a spare memory slot? surely it's filled?

The link is for the MSI Wind, which I think has two memory slots where the Medion has one other than that they are identical machines and to replace the RAM in the Medion is the same procedure as the Wind.
The medion just has the one slot with a 1gb already in it. Picked up one from Aldi earlier for my sister since she wanted the bigger drive, triple warranty length and double capacity battery for the extra £100.
Having used it for an hour earlier i'm sorely tempted by one from Sainsburys. Can get the staff discount and claim the VAT back and use it as my work laptop. May very well be looking at sticking a CoreDuo 1.6 1Gb 120Gb 15" Acer up for sale since it still has warranty till August. The portability of these just makes it far too attractive as any real work i do on a desktop machine at home.
yeah gonna stick windows 7 or vista on my xp looks so dated and here good reports of vista/7 working well on this little number... just ordered 2gig memory from crucial.com

Windows 7 will probably run OK with the standard 1GB RAM. Let us know how you get on I am thinking about putting Windows 7 on mine aswell.

Win7 runs fine on mine - intending on using it as a replacement for my work laptop (attached to a screen!).

Did it install fine or did you have to search for drivers and tweak some settings to make it work?

managed to get one of these, great bit of kit, just the right balance between a laptop and the smaller netbooks

Installed fine, just needed to get the wi-fi drivers on. I advise keeping the recovery partition intact, as it has all the drivers you need on it - point Win 7 to them and all's good.
I also updated the bios from the medion site and got the webcam update.
Only other thing I'd advise is to have some pen drives ready for action - got 3 OS's on it now and only one pen drive to install the things from if things go awry!

If anyone still wants one of these, Sainsburys in Winchester (badger farm) have 2 left. They're not out on display, so you have to ask at the customer service desk.
Very nice piece of kit.
Installed Windows 7 Ultimate on mine and its running pretty good, kept the recovery partition intact just in case I need to go back to XP.

Yep, noticed it at £249 in the Warrington store today!
Found this too. Was a bit annoyed really as we'd been told over and over again that they were expecting some in, and that it would be the same price, then when i finally see one in store (just the one) they tell me that the price is £249
It would have been for my dad, i'm ok as i got a Samsung NC10 and am typng this reply from it
