Just keep trying I guess. I couldn't sign in to the EA servers for about a week. I thought I'd been banned or something because no-on else was having the same problem but it suddenly started working again.

Unfortunately not everybody can necessarily commit to doing every season, so we need to do a sign-up to see who can actually play (and invite new players to join). Promotion and relegation from S2 placings will still count for those who sign up again for S3.

And we'll have new teams, because a change is as good as a rest :)

Have a slightly crazy idea for team selection.

Everyone gets a free choice of team for the first of the league double headers. For example if I was playing Steve I could choose Liverpool and Steve then selects Inter Milan. For the second of the double headers the teams are reversed so I play Inter and Steve plays Liverpool.

Sounds a bit daft but then people could take a chance a choose a lower ranked team knowing the opponent would have to play with them in the next game.

Thoughts or am I being daft?

Agree with enforced deadlines, allowing a one strike then you're out rather than miss one and straight out. Worked well back in the day. And allowing for pre-arranged misses (holidays, 3RoD, etc.)

I'd warn against stopping one season and immediately starting another, without a small gap in between we'll end up transfering a late finish into the next season. Even those who have finished might want longer to play around with their new teams.

I know what your saying but we are giving people 10 extra days to finish there games. What about the people that finish there games and have enough time to practise with new team and want to start the season. Does that become unfair on the people who actually get there games played in time?

Fair point, and my tired brain automatically assumed we'd know the teams on that day and not the week before even if the current league is still going.

If we're enforcing deadlines moving forward then future intra-season debates won't be necessary (hopefully).

I ran a fairly tight ship when i was going the old Pro PC leagues, i was lenient to a certain degree but if you have the deadline in the thread header i found it helped, maybe stick to a 3 strike policy if you miss a deadline?

In the same way we took Liverpool and Arsenal out of the 4.5 star teams cos they're too good, maybe take Everton out this season as when I played against them in League matches they seemed pretty nifty - anybody who had them concur?

When picking the teams to use from this list, maybe combine with that list Steve P found last time to see who's the best out of those (even if the list does incorporate Live Updates, it's a good benchmark.

hey guys, need to speak to colin but part of one of the things we at Tradeyourstuff.co.uk wanted to do for the community was offer a prize to the winners of competitions - I am thinking maybe a copy of a proper football game in pro Evo 2009?!! ;-) (Just kidding!)

I will speak to him and see what his thoughts are - maybe I am thinking the winner could get the chance to win a PSP console with Fifa 09 maybe? Let me know your thoughts on whether this a decent enough prize and obviously need to get approval too from Colin.

Is there a ps3 equivalent of this as I am sure we would like to give it a go and see how we fare?

Well i think midnight last night was the agreed cut-off point for Season 2, so i'll do a provisional* draw later on today.

*subject to any complaints about how i resolve any disputes over final standings due to uncompleted games.

As for prizes, that sounds just lovely. Bit concerned how it might affect the community element if there's more than just pride and friendly rivalry at stake though :)

As for prizes, that sounds just lovely. Bit concerned how it might affect the community element if there's more than just pride and friendly rivalry at stake though :)

Looks pretty good overall, but i would change a couple around - i wouldn't say it's fair for example that ianmb doesn't get promoted from the Championship for finishing third just to even out the numbers in each division, when it was agreed at the start of the season that the top 3 would go up. The alternative of course is that fewer than 3 would get relegated from some divisions, but i would argue that's a bit fairer all in all, as a couple of people gain and nobody loses out.

So my alternative would be...

He didn't play a single game though, and hasn't signed up for the new season, so i see no reason why it should have affected who gets relegated.
