I know this post should normally be in the Suppliers Forum, but in this case a lot of members have missed out on the Mummy box set from PC World.

I took a print out of the page and went along to my local Asda store as well as printing out this:

http://www.avenueshopping.co.uk/ASDAmatch.htm

The customer service manager said that they do not match printouts from the internet and I showed him the printout above and asked him to show me on there where it said that.

I then went on to say that I get newsletters everyday from various internet companies detailing any bargains that they have. I said that I got a newsletter to say that PC World were reducing a lot of DVD's (a bit of a lie) and when I went to the page "The Mummy Boxset" and "Enemy At The Gates" were reduced to £9.99. I said that as far as I was concerned, I was entitled to get a price match.

And with that, 2 minutes later, I was walking out the store with them.

i then went along to EB and got The Magnificent 7 boxset for under 9 quid. What a Friday that was.

You can`t get a print out of the Mummy box set on PC World anymore.

Wouldn't they phone up to confirm the print out? I'm sure many of us here could produce fake print outs and get them to price match......c u in the suppliers forum.

I object profusely

I have never created a fake anything in my life. The Asda leaflet can be picked up in any store and The Mummy Boxset, I assume would be genuine.

If you do not want the Asda Price Match advert, don't use it. But DO NOT say I have faked anything again. OK

president gringo did not accuse you of anything. All he said was that it was possible to fake anything from the internet so why should Asda accept anything other than a genuine printed ad.

Good point. reversed.

Any chance of Tesco doing the same price match thing?

:(

I tried the pricematch with the alien boxset a while back.

After 30 minutes of arguing (with undeniable proof that the ad WAS showing the boxset) i still had no boxset.

I sent an email complaint to head office, and even then they couldnt even get the basic details right (is there a warrington, Near Liverpool in Scotland?)

So it all depends on who you speak to. The ones i spke to were obviously thick.

I'm going to Tesco do get some groceries anyway - might as well give them a try :)

Tesco have stopped doing price matches now. And they've stopped doing double the difference as well. Otherwise I would have scored off them big time for the Safeway cheap cans of coke thing last week.

Tried an ASDA price match, sales assistant raised an eyebrow or two, but I am now the proud owner to the Mummy/Mummy returns boxset for the princely sum of £9.99.

I picked up a Mummy boxset today after a bit of confrontation (we won't /YOU WILL type thing) and pointing out that their pricematch offer says Any product, Any price, Anywhere. They still weren't happy and so rang HQ and also rang PC World, who said that they only ever had 6 in stock!! After a 15 minute wait they finally came through and said that they would do it as one off this time.

Managed to get my boxset for £9.99, the woman on the desk was well moody and i had to go down to customer service first to get it checked by a manager. But got the boxset in the end for a bargain price so who cares!

I was told by sales assistant that they didn't price match entertainment products, (as if!) then after producing their own price match leaflet, she said that they don't price match with the internet. She then wandered off to speak with a manager and came back still refusing and offering to give me a phone no. for customer relations. I asked to speak to someone else and asked them to ring customer relations. She said that they had somebody in yesterday price matching a camera with a £300 differential. (Kodak... I presume!) While speaking with customer relations, she asked for their name and asked to speak to someone with more authority. I presume that they told her to do it even though she told me that they didn't know. Anyhow I got my copy in the end.

Yup I got my box set too :D But only after *alot* of hasstle. They refused at first, and the women on the entertainment counter took the box set off display and when we got to customer services they had already called them to warn of us :D They said it had to be at item on special offer at another store & a leaflet that came thru the door or was in the paper-but that isnt what the ad says is it!!! But my mom was with me & she wouldn't give in, she asked to see the manager-they fetched two undermanagers, she was not pleased at this insult! In the end they said they needed to check the PC world website to find the product, so I called Pentasa & got the direct link for them-their face was a picture, anyway 5 minutes later they came back & said 'you can have it'. It took us about 20 minutes in all, but we were triumphant. My mom reminded them that their advertisement was false advertising if they didn't adhere to the 'any product, any price, anywhere' for my mom :)

RESULT :D

Got one from Asda Bradford this evening. Had tried two leeds stores earlier but no stock left (someone must have nabbed 'em!)

But had one left in Bradford Store. Customer Services woman was not convinced (I just had a printout of the web page from PC World but she was convinced it was a photocopy..)

Asked to speak to duty manager , she appeared took one look at the ad and to her "Nothing we can do, they've got an ad match so we have to honour it". Customer services woman looked gutted as she took payment for 9.99...

Customer is always right tho at the end of the day...

I know this is donkeys ago, but it brought back memories.

I went to the ASDA at Westbrook in Warrington, and I argued with the silly woman, and I got my boxset for £19.99!
