I am off to the Focus on Imaging show at the NEC this afternoon and was wondering if anyone has been and what the highlights were? Were there any good bargains to be had?

Cheers

Weren't too many bargains, well certainly nothing that i was interested in anyway. Highlights for me were the chances to get hands on with equipment from Nikon on Sigma that on my current income I could only dream of owning. The D3X combined with some of the long prime lenses made for some impressive set-ups, although I can imagine it would get tiring lugging kit that heavy around all day - no wonder the photographers at Brands Hatch and Snetterton always seem to be sitting about!

It was heaving on Sunday. I wasn't really in the market for anything though, just having a look really.

Playing with the Long prime lenses on the Canon stand was good :dork:.

Cheers, you were all right about the lack of good deals. Though I picked up a Giotto tripod, head and monopod for about the same if not slightly cheaper than the internet.

Three types of visitor there

Odd middle aged pervs who go for the models and because they've not heard of buying online.

Strange couples with fake photography companies on their name badge "Director - Wayne and Joanne Photography Ltd."

People who clearly just attend every single event at the NEC with no discernible interest in photography.

I definitely agree there - was exhibiting and saw a lot of #2 and #3. Unfortunately didn't get a chance to take a proper look around, but was eyed up by the cave girls - which was nice.

Who were you exhibiting for?

Interestingly, my brother (RPG on here) was asking about a very specific/specialist tripod setup someone had there, and the reaction from the stand people was basically "errrr this is specialist stuff, mate".

Except, he needs exactly the thing they had, with (work money) to spend immediate and they couldn't even be bothered to talk.
