Superb episode.
Dubaku - critical
Dubaku's girlfriend dead.
Jack gets Dubaku opened up on the street.
FBI blondie dead
Tony warns of whole new terror act on the way.
Quite breathless.
I thought Dubaku was critical but still alive.
Tony looks dodgy if you ask me.
I reckon the next target is the Whitehouse itself judging by the look on the dodgy aides face when being told he is going there.
I thought Dubaku was critical but still alive.
Yeah I think you are right.
I reckon the next target is the Whitehouse itself juding by the look on the dodgy aides face when being told he is going there.
Think so too. And with Bill saying minutes early how safe the Whitehouse is :)
good episode - enjoyed the car chase/crash
think the Pres is being a little hard on Jack about getting him out of trouble with the Senator - "I'll think about it" - a tad ungrateful
maybe see slick-haired mole get some torture next ep
and poor Rosa - not only does she not need to make extra lasagne for Dubaku, but only needs a Menu Master for one now

I'd say its a certainty.
Made me think, how many times has the Whitehouse ever been invaded onscreen?
Can only think of X2.

Loved Jack's confrontation with Renee. Loving hug, follwed by immediate threat.
What a ladies man
Great ep. Been a storming season so far.
Think so too. And with Bill saying minutes early how safe the Whitehouse is :)
Yep, and they've got the daughter there as a handy hostage. Bill and Aaron fighting off an assault on the White House will be fun.
I'd say its a certainty.

Yes it probably will but it will be crazy - with all that's been going on in day 7 they'd be guarding Madame Pres with a battallion and have nukes ready to fire at hostiles, not just have a few soldiers standing around.
Well there were soldiers at the hospital gaurding her and hubby so I would have thought there would also be some at the WH as well, what with the corruption in the US goverment I would have also thought that security would be beefed up all round.
Hope its something more imaginative than the threat of nukes later on as that has been done to death.
Loving this show btw!

Superman 2...
With public humiliation as well...
At least 24 has kept it's standards consistent. Love the way Jack isn't having any messing around.
Finally Duma...hope Candyman comes next ep. His voice is definitely bad guy gold...

With 5 minutes to go I was thinking "awwww it's all over....... sniff, see ya next January guys".. then this conversation happened :
Oh Hi Tony, how ya doing dude?
Not bad Kiefer... so me mate down the pub says we got a terrorist attack occuring at 7..
Tony that's just lies, you've been watching too much Curb
No really, the guy that wants to put you in prison, his chief of staff is the new badie
Really? Time to show that guy how we torture people
YEAH, see you at consistution corner
Thank god it turned into that though, rather than another few hours of finding some data (thankfully Chloe rocks and uses a mirror server while using a self-erasing px3 chip which Blondie's parameters weren't wide enough when she got that motherboard and connected it to that socket using partition tables when it was re-built to initial an FBI wide re-format)... or my other big fear was the data never reached the destination (Jack was quite eager to hand it over to some unknown guy).
So great episode... I guess

Also, no way would evil FBI guy be up and walking after putting a hole in his arm
He had full rotation in it, a mere 5 minutes after putting two holes in himself - even got his jacket on without wincing :notworthy
"You ever pull your weapon on me again, you better plan to use it!"
"I did."

The fact that he's still alive suggests he'll be used in later episodes for "leverage" against the bad guys, who presumably don't know yet that he's been caught and think he managed to get away.

So Blondie was in on it after all. I knew slimy IT guy was bad, but didn't peg him for a murderer. That was fun. Why do people who get shot in the stomach in US TV always die within seconds? When it happened to Cody Willis in Neighbours, she hung on for hours!
Derren Dubaku's NLP seems to get better by the episode. I wonder if he'll come round and convince the FBI that he's innocent. "Gaze into my eyes, I am a poor lasagne chef. These aren't the generic terrorists you're looking for..."
What was with Jack handing the data card to a red-shirt, anyway?
"The ENTIRE GOVERNMENT has been compromised. WE CAN'T TRUST ANYONE, DAMN IT!! Oh, Johnson, can you take this extremely critical and super-sensitive data back to the FBI, k thx."
16 orders ending in "...now!!" so far. Any more, and I'll need a bigger square.
Just discovered this site whilst searching for the mythical "one download" PX17 drive:

Jack Bauer kill count (so far): 13.5
Episode rating: 8/10
Best moment: Harsin nailed it!
This is 24 how I remember it
For a second I actually thought they were gonna drag out the names list thing (ala Season 5 with the confession tape), but they killed it off to make a very conclusive episode.
This is back on form!
This is vintage 24 now, loving it. Looking forward to this next arc, finally see John Voight and Tony Todd again I guess!

Thought it was pretty awful myself, from the moles in the FBI talking conspiracy in an open office to the scene straight out of a cheesy soap opera between Renee and Jack :gag:
Another good episode but me thinks the writers were having fun with the viewers. As soon it was mentioned the storage device was a one-time downloadable, auto-delete version, my eyes rolled so much, I almost had a seizure. Thankfully super-geek Chloe was on the ball with her mirror server.... and all this just minutes after Jack hands over the device to a shady helicopter pilot when EVERYONE paid by the government is a suspect.
The makers of the Cherokee won't be too happy with their discrete product-placement this week. Oh look! ... One sudden twist of the steering wheel & your vehicle will do a triple salco, worthy of a 6.0 on Dancing on Ice. Your vehicle will then also explode within a minute of impact. :|
Anyways, time for chapter 2: Assault on the WhiteHouse. Coincedentally, I just read a novel by Vince Flynn (a consultant for the show 24) that involved a terrorist attack on the whitehouse that results in a hostage situation.
Thought it was pretty awful myself, from the moles in the FBI talking conspiracy in an open office
That was done Sotto voce which means, in a drama, to speak under one's breath

Aw man can they not make the computer geekery even vaguely realistic. "I'll need a blah de blah motherboard and you're going to have to reconfigure it for macro uplink. I'll just chuck it in server 1 (without powering down) and it'll trash every single server Dell ever put in this place". Surely they would have some CCTV in such an important server room anyway. Completely ridiculous that FBI Moss Boss would just chat with FBI Slimer about all that's been going on and then let him walk right out of the room.
Good job Chloe had one of those 538-in-1 card readers off ebay I guess.
Special Agent Freckles has become deeply annoying now, she's way too emotional and unstable compared to the completely heartless Jack they are painting. Surely he will ditch her for the rest of the series - he can't even trust her to get him a sandwich without her flipping out.
Surely Captain Dodgy at the end was on the Dubaku Most Wanted list. If the President had time to call the senator and invite him to come see her then surely the FBI had time to call him and warn him or even go round and grab the dodgy aide.
Now that's the 24 we know and love.

Oh and I LOVE Chloe saying "Larry don't ask me how I did it but ..." and then in her next breath saying exactly how she did it. Proper IT geek style
Really enjoyed that ep. Although the breath-takingly stupid moment for me was Jack giving the auto-erase memory card to a random a bloke standing next to a helicopter!
Wouldn't that heart resusicitation unit have fried *any* memory card?

She is in for the long haul.
It was OK, nothing outstanding and sadly nowhere near how good the show used to be.
Me and the wife were amazed at the super mutant healing ability of FBI mole who's arm was totally ok just minutes after putting a bullet through it at point blank range!!
Glad they didn't drag the chip thing out too much...
Glad they didn't drag the chip thing out too much...
Yeah, was quite refreshing when after all the techno-babble Chloe blurts out that actually she's done it.
Best bit about the trailer (and I'm not sure this is now worthy of a spoiler, but just in case):
The idea that terrorists planning an attack on the White House will at any point unroll a nice artistic sketch of the front of the building. Couldn't they hack / steal blueprints?

We *screamed* at the TV screen the moment he handed that card to the chopper pilot. It was the most *incredibly stupid* thing Jack Bauer has ever done. However, in a nice twist the 24 writers actually did subvert expectation by having the redshirt pop up 15 mins later with nothing but a "oh, here's that data you're after, sir".
And yep, we thought that about the defibrillators too.
Would I be right in thinking that these episodes were all written and filmed before the writers strike? And now, with a bit of re-editing and re-shooting we're on to post-strike episodes?

OMG just seen the promo for next week!!! Can't bloody wait for next weeks double episode!!!!!!
I think the first 8 were done before the writers strike (and had minimal tinkering afterwards) hence the quick resolution to that storyline for the first 2 eps they did when the strike was over...

Maybe i haven't noticed this before, but given that this episode took place between 5 and 6pm, shouldn't the clock be in 24 hr format (17:59 etc.) when it comes on the screen?
Was it always in this format?

Yes, annoyyingly.
Very good ep - the dialogue btw Jack / FbI lady was such a good scene. The number of times they talk about how Jack is heartless, feels nothing etc., surely he's gonna break down or something will explode at some point??? Maybe FBI lady can become the lead for day 8 after all this hardness creation ;)
Gotta be the Whitehouse, right? I do love bad Tony. Wicked stuff.
Season as a whole has been good, but very by the numb ers - today was the first ep for a while which amde me think it might be changing things around.

I'm pretty sure America doesn't really "do" 24 hour clocks in the same way as Europe does. Everything is am or pm instead. Hence why tourist guidebooks and websites etc which might be used by Americans often have explanations of how to read European train timetables that are full of 1805, 23:20 etc.

Good series so far. 'Freckles' is an OK charater, she just needs to stop crying and be a little more...sexy? I like the dynamics between the two, though. Committed FBI agent who sticks to the rules starts bringing death and destruction everywhere she goes as soon as she stops going by the book and following Jacks orders! :P
As someone said earlier, the hacking and computer talk is just GREAT! The whole time they talk about these things I just can't stop chuckling. The girls speech about needing a motherboard & 'makro' to crash the servers was so realistic! Then watching all the matrix code on the screen was the icing on the cake.
Anyone notice the blooper in the episode where Bauer rescues The Presidents wife, too? He tells Freckles to check the laptop for any information, and then you see her say "it won't boot!", when it's blatantly obvious the laptop is turned on as you can see the desktop :D
My personal favourite was in the last season when Chloe used a satellite to track the heat inside a building. From the data she was able to not only track their exact movements, but pinpoint what floor they were on too :D
Also has anyone noticed Bauer's erratic driving habits? Every few seconds he looks in the wing and rear view mirrors whilst bolting down a busy street. Keep your eyes on the damn road son!

Loved it. Certainly enjoying this season so far even with all the silly IT talk and mutant healing powers. And that trailer for next week :notworthy:clap:
They should have a bit after the credits of the end of the last episode of the season, in the style of Airplane, where they cut to Dubaku in his hosiptal bed and they bring his meal onto the ward and it's lasagne, he turns to the camera and raises an eyebrow.

Yep... I also noticed the blooper where someone confuses the presidents husband for the actual president. ;)
Excellent, Sky1 are running the next two episodes back to back rather than being cheap and splitting it. :D
Great episode, although I came close to throwing the remote at the screen when all the data was being erased.
