Ok.
I've got a Toshiba 36" ZP18P, what size of SUB does this TV have and does anyone know the output of it? I'm struggling to find the answers on the Tosh site. :(

For such an excellent TV and a massive expense, the manual is rather thin. There's no specs for the total output of the system or driver sizes of the speakers, instead all you get is 2x10w and 10w Woofer. I wanted to know the rear channel outputs and sub size, driver sizes etc.
Ah well :)
Well I can NOW agree with you.
When I posted before I did not have this TV, however, I now do! :))) (I was waiting for it to arrive!)
Its a fantastic TV!!!!

Truely is awesome, looks great, excellent dvd pictures. The only let down for me is the strength of the sats, they are loud but lack bass due to the cabinet size. Looks like I'm gonna have to get me some monitor rears. :)
Hmmmm... I gotta mess about with mine yet, because my room is a funny shape.
Tell you what though - the TV is blinkin' heavy!!! I couldn't wait for Tosh to deliver it, so got it TNT'd, which mean't that I had to setup the cabinet myself!!!
Now I gotta go and sit down rest my bad back!! lol

Yes! I built my cabinet too, the TV is a MONSTER, it weighs 80KG, I managed to get its bum onto the cabinet then lift its head pushing it into place... cabinet was creeking tho! :D
The thing that let the whole package down were the farty little screws that hold the front "sides" to the legs -- and then you have to push with all your might the two bits at the top of the cabinet that pull the sides off!!! :D :D :D

Yep, I had to use a hammer on those 2 plastic top bits.
I just pushed em in .. guess i'm a hard bas*ard! :D :D :D :D :D !!!

*cough*
o.k. big boy :)
lol :D
Actually - on a more serious note - there does not seem to be a high level of Bass on my Tosh, even with the Bass turned up and the Super Sub being turned to 100.
It *is* noticeable when you turn the sub off, but it doesn't exactly rock the room when there are loud explosions on DVD's etc
Any idea?

Same, the sub is somewhat 'steady'. It helps, I think its playing more of an active role then a 'sub' role filling in where the smaller satellites can't, but there isn't a lot of thunder or punch. :( I might feed the rears through my JVC stereo, got 2x10" subs coming off that... should help with the tv's onboard throat problem. :)
I must add - anybody considering getting this TV that although what I said about the sub seems poor, the sound quality is absolutely awesome.
Its a shame Tosh dropped the external sub out on this model, but at least I can run an external sub through my DVD player -- albeit that it means I lose the sky+ dd5.1 sub (or should I say, loose a bit more 'subbage!')

Yeah the sound is very good, tonely, just needs a external sub for larger rooms. :)
Just out of interest. When I watch DVD's in 5.1 my Tosh tells me It's running 2/0 DD?? I looked in the manual and that doesn't seem to be full 5.1. Could you look at yours and see if its the same. I'm pretty sure I've got it cabled up right, not exactly quantum physics! :D
Mine only says 2.0 when I am playing a DD 2.0 DVD - when playing a 5.1 DVD or watching Sky Premier/Box Office (I have Sky+) then it says 3/2 (which is 5.1).
You have to have either the opticle or coaxial cable from your DVD (or Sky+) into the back of the system and also the sound setup for the Scart channel to get the 5.1 setup.

I called Tosh and I have it all set-up correctly. I also ran through the Pioneer manual to check and that to seemed right but yet the Tosh tells me its 2/2 not 2/3. Hmmmmmm, anyone got a DV444 player?
