Enjoy our photos, movies and music files on TV! Get the most out of your TV time too, with One Touch Pause Live TV, Instant Replay and FlexTime. Watch your favourites anytime you want, without missing a beat. Pause Live TV puts you in absolute control. Once the recorder is turned on, a large built-in memory automatically starts recording the program you are watching -- allowing you to pause, replay or save the program, any time. If you need to take a break, you can pause your 'live' TV program with just one touch of a button, and resume watching when it suits you. With Instant Replay, you can relive magic movie moments and super sports scenes - any time you want. At the touch of a button, the hard disk will replay the last 30 seconds. Skipping further backwards requires nothing more than pressing the button again. With FlexTime you can watch a program while it’s still being recorded, thanks to the extreme speed of a Hard Disk. You can also watch a different program from the Hard Disk while it's recording something else. Progressive Scan doubles the vertical resolution of the image resulting in a noticeably sharper picture. Instead of sending a field comprising the odd lines to the screen first, followed by the field with the even lines, it writes both fields at the same time. A full image is created instantaneously, using the maximum resolution. At such a speed, your eye perceives a sharper picture with no line structure. The Philips Hard Disk DVD Recorder 160 GB DVDR3570H supports 'dual media' recording - the ability to create recordings on DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW and DVD+R DL discs. Now you can buy any disc and the Philips recorder will always create fully compatible recordings that can be played by any DVD player. Play virtually any media format you want - whether it is DivX, MP3, WMA or JPEG. Experience the unbeatable convenience of great playability, and the luxury of sharing media files on your TV or home theatre system - in the comfort of your own living room!

Colin - the "discus this product" link seems to be asterisked out ?
I have removed it, it is something that we can't get removed from this automated post.

Given the fiasco over the Archos 705 offered at £60 (and then cancelled) I would be wary of any great "deals" from ibood. I would also advise any potential purchaser to look at the product forum for the Archos 705 and see some very disgruntled customers (me included) and completely dreadful customer service. Maybe this site should join others in not allowing ibood deals to be posted (probably an issue for the suppliers forum)
Would I be able to hook this up to my Virgin Media box?
Would I be able to hook this up to my Virgin Media box?
yes - I think you can
unlike a normal PVR which will only record from the in-built Freeview, the ones that have a dvd recorder can record from external sources (my Panny E85 recorded from my VM box)

They mispriced an item by £100 IIRC - £69 instead of £169. When they noticed they sent out emails offering free delivery on the next item ordered.
Have refunds been issued? If they have then I don't see the problem here, not even Amazon would honour such a mistake in this sort of economic climate.
If full refunds have not been issued then I would be wary alright.

I guess the tuner is analogue rather than digital?

It took them four days to refund me and even that was only after I contacted them twice to complain. I still haven't received any kind of voucher. I think what irked most people was not that a mistake was made, it was their high handed approach to the whole situation. I have used Ibood before a couple of times and had no problems, but as with most companies, their true worth is established when things go wrong and on this occasion I found them sadly lacking.
Just thought I'd stick up for Ibood a little bit
I ordered the Archos, was refunded and received the free shipping voucher.
I was VERY surprised to hear this morning from IBOOD that they had held a lottery this morning for 3 of the Philips DVD recorders to people who had been affected by, what was just, a pricing error. (lost count of Play, tesco, amazon etc cancellations for this very reason)
I had won a DVD recorder.
I think as far as customer service goes, this goes way beyond what I would have expected.
I was happy with a refund. The voucher was a bonus.
The DVD recorder is insanely kind on their behalf IMO.
I'd use them again (obviously)
It mentions it plays Divx.. don't suppose anyone knows if this means via the USB connection too?

Whilst it's fair that you should be allowed to post your experience, I don't think it's fair you should expect the site not to post links to their bargains any more.
Colin is not posting that Ibood is great or making any kind of comment on their service, he is merely pointing out a deal.

I think the problem was more than the "misprice". As annoying as it was to miss out on the deal, I can live without it. It was that they did not advise people for 24 hours after they had changed the price, did not refund for four days or respond directly to customer complaints. I have ordered from ibood in the past and the products were fine (even if they took a long time to turn up) so I had no complaints until this weekend. However, this showed the customer service side to be distinctly lacking and I would never order from them again in case I needed to deal with customer service for any reason. I think its a fair point to warn other prospective customers of this as well and if they still want to order from ibood it will be on the basis of an informed decision.
Other sites had already got a policy of not displaying ibood deals (in part because of concerns over customer service) before this week and I was just suggesting it might be an appropriate matter for discussion here as well.
We're not in the habit of stopping promotion of companies due to a few customer service complaints. Obviously, if there were larger issues such as fraud or risks over customers details then it would be a different issue, but from what I can tell it was a misprice that was eventually refunded and resolved. Not something to go over the top about.
BTW, Numberjack - do you have another account on this site you'd like to tell us about?
Good price, but the lack of built in Freeview is a dealbreaker for me. Would be good for someone to use with Sky I suppose.

Colin, there is another account in my household but I don't see how that matters. I was sharing a genuine concern over customer service and given some comments over on the ibood forum over the admins posting as users was wary about posting using the same username as I used over there in case they genuinely were stooping that low. I haven't posted under the other account so am not doubling up on posts and have not posted anything defamatory or incorrect.
Why are you so concerned about this? I trust my personal data is safe with you but given you have gone to the trouble of checking up, you can understand why I might have been worried ibood would as well. By all means cancel all accounts in my household if you are not happy with the debate - I have made my point and was happy to leave it at that but your response makes it unlikely I will bother posting again.

That's your choice. Our software automatically flags multiple users who log in from the same PC and while this in itself isn't a breach of our rules, they do state that each user is allowed only one account on the site.
If you're telling me the other account isn't yours then I am happy to accept that.
