I have a R3 NTSC copy of "The Red Violin" (Sam Jackson). I'm trying to play it on my region-free (via handset hack) Aiwa XD-DV370. The player seems to 'see' the disk' and a track number comes up on the players' display but then it just stops and goes back to the player's 'welcome'/splash screen.

I have no trouble playing other R1/R0 disks on this player.

The disc works fine on the DVD drive in my PC! Mind you, when I first inserted it, it seemed to want to install some software; I cancelled out from the process and managed to play it after that (I use PowerDVD on the PC).

Anyone got any ideas how I can get this disc to play on my Aiwa player?(so I can watch it properly!)

thanks in advance

Can you manually select R3 or is the player just multi region without you hacking it?

I've tried manually selecting R3 AND selecting R0, I get the same thing happening either way :0(

What method have you used to make the p.c. region free?

Maybe your player just can't play the disc? No budget player will play every disc 100% guaranteed - maybe you have one that trips it up?

unlikely: it's played everything else I'vve thrown at it (all regions) and anyhow what bugs me is that it plays OK on PC DVD drive worth about 80 quid!

any other tips on what I might do?
