The releases with DD5.1 etc, are these the same on R1 as well as R4........? Looking at EzyDVD's site and there's what looks like the new Friends 3 disc package there.....

Friends with DD 5.1 sound?

Seems like a waste of time having that for a sitcom, or am I missing something? Please dont tell me I need to replace my Reg 4 disks! Have them all upto Season 7.

Oh of course you have to replace them. But fear not, since I'm such a nice guy, I will reluctantly take them off your hands for £30. Please reply promptly before I change my mind :D

Maybe they don't know yet themselves...........look at some of the 2 for $50 offers DVDCrave are doing......doesn't say what format they're in, so Pan & Scam could be a possibility.......
There's a news story on the front page somewhere about the R1 versions though......

Friends is filmed and broadcast in full screen 4:3 - pan & scan doesn't apply. The existing R4 discs are fine - decent picture and DD2.0. The show is hardly crying out for a 5.1 mix!

However, AFAIWA, the new R1's may have a new 5.1 mix. Quite what this would achieve is a little beyond me.

The new digipacks in Australia look quite sexy though, but I don't think I would be 'upgrading' for this new packaging.

I haven't got any of them at present, so I'm waiting for reviews etc before I buy......

So is there any more news on this. Do the new R4 digipacks have all the extras of the forthcoming R1 Season boxset or not?

The R1 may have the advantage of better picture quality if the reviews of the "best of" compilations on dvdfile are anything to go by. They both say how sharp the DVDs look and you certainly can't say that for any of the R2/4 discs.

Has anybody seen any R1 friends?

Cheers rgfinch:)

Anybody else then know about which is the best Region to go for?

I'm still waiting on them bringing out the rest of Season 7 on Reg 4, but if I hear that the new disks are vastly improved picture wise, I aint gonna be a happy bunny after buying ALL the Reg 4's!
