After the Archos fiasco, are we sure iBood won't increase the price by £100?!! Their utter disregard for contract law has lost them my custom.

Are we sure this is the correct price. I would hate to buy it and then be told that it was a misprice.

well, this time the EU sites have it at at 99 euros, so that would seem about right.

expect this one to come off.

Terrible customer service. I e-mailed them 6 different times in 2 months with some questions and they never replied even once. An item they sent me was faulty and no reply too so a waste of money for me. I wouldn't touch them!

Can this be used as NAS storage just using the ethernet connector to a wireless router then? No need for USB?

Yes. NAS = NETWORK Attached Storage

I think the only reason the USB is there is to speed up transfer of files to the device.

I think the only reason the USB is there is to speed up transfer of files to the device.

I have one of these (500GB).
The USB allows daisy chaining of other USB drives as further network storage.

You can't connect the USB to a PC directly
The box has a small cpu running linux - which is hackable

see http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/

You may hear bad things about this drive but mine has been running well virtually non stop for nearly 2 years now.

I had fast response (12 hours) to an email query from their support people about a month ago.

Does anybody know if this supports running a USB printer? It looks like there's a picture of a printer there, but I can't find mention of this feature anywhere else.

Edit, found my own answer - no :( (http://wdc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wdc.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1519&p_created=1172517706&p_sid=XVxcdNqj&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=1522&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MiwyJnBfcHJvZHM9MjQ3LDI0OCZwX2NhdHM9MCZwX3B2PTIuMjQ4JnBfY3Y9JnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9YW5zd2Vycy5zZWFyY2hfbmwmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1wcmludGVy&p_li=&p_topview=1)

It is possible with a hack (see my earlier link and http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/print-server ) but otherwise no.

Other tricks are possible too - mine successfully manages my torrent downloads - a lot cheaper than having a PC on all the time

Ive gone for one of these anyway - could do with the space and having it NA makes it a whole lot easier.

Cheers Colin
