Hi all,

I'm considering buying tomorrow a JVC cd receiver (kd-s8r) and 12 disc changer (chx400) for the car, for £230, plus about 30ish for the fitting.

Up until now I've been using a car MD unit plus a recording deck indoors. I find I just never use minidiscs now that I have a cd burner so am gonna sell the pair of them to a mate.

Is anyone familiar with either of these models, r they any good?

I know it's not the ultimate, as I'm really trying to keep the cost down, but will I get good sound out of this? Are they quality units?

Would anyone recommend an alternative package costing up to no more than 250 and having at least a 10 disc changer?

MP3 playback is not really important to me as with a lot of my discs I will want to play them on my standard cd player. Likewise, basic tuner is all that is necessary, I hardly ever listen to the radio, and have no need of a tape player.

Any advice would be most welcome.

cheers

for that price you can get a kenwood/pioneer cassette HU with cd changer, or add a but more (£30) and you can get a CD HU instead. Or, save on the installation by doing it yourself and it makes up for it.

thanks for the replies folks,

had a look round and nothing takes my eye more than the jvc so probably gonna go for that, but the advice is appreciated.

I've had two JVC car stereos - the second was a tape head unit with 12 disc changer. It was fantastic, sounded great, quick and easy to use. It lasted 3.5 years then its amp went :( good stereo otherwise.
