Things seem to process for a loooong time, post takes forever and I’m getting more and more floaters. Last two not really Play’s fault but they should speed up their shipping and keep a lid on the prices some of which don’t even equate to VAT free, which they don’t pay anyway, ie UFO boxset at 16% off - What’s that all about?

I have always found Plays CDs take ages to process. Just have to live with it I guess. I try not to order music from them anymore and use others such as cdwow or 101cd. Much quicker service from these.

Around the Christmas period I also had situations where money was being taken from my account yet the DVD's hadn't even left the warehouse - these were later shipped a week or two later!

Phoned them up and they said it was due to the overwhealming demand for products at this festive time of year - so I accepted the excuse.

It seems if you lot are having similar problems then the jury's still out.

Overall, good company though.

Sorry to be pedantic, but VAT free is approx 15% off...

VAT is 17.5% - but do the sums...

£100 + 17.5% = £117.50 agreed?
£117.50 - 17.5% = 117.50 x 0.825 = £96.94 agreed?

£117.50 - 15% = £117.50 x 0.85 = £99.88 (close enough)

...such deftness. I didn't even see your hands move!

Do you do this professionally?

Robbin' so 'n' so's.....I always thought I was getting 17.5% off.

Actually, now that you've got me thinking...

100/1.175=85.10638297872340425531914893617

- it's even worse! Only 14.9%. Getting poorer by the minute.....

Ordered Battle Royale Sunday, posted Monday. Arrived today (Wednesday). 104 discs from Play so far. 1 was lost in the post and immediatly replaced, everything else has arrived within a week.

I only use Play and DV-Depot now. Both excellent.

Just to say I have been using Play for 2 years now and have never had a problem. My friend won't use them again though, but then again he lacks patience.

Used play since march last year, over 200 dvds and only 1 prob which was resolved very quickly. However they now seem to be taking ages to get region 2 dvds sent out but will stick with them because of good prices and I personally have always had good cust serv from them aswell.

Ordered 100+ discs no problems. E-mailed them on Monday about a return I wanted to make, not had a reply yet. Will phone later today.

btw - Did anyone else giggle like school girl when jonathan.e said "I’m getting more and more floaters" :D

UPDATE
Just phoned, was waiting for less than 2 mins. Delt with problem quickly and efficently. Very happy and will continue to use them again.

Although I love play (bought most of my dvd's from them), they are getting slow.

And as an example, they have just shipped me a dvd. Wow you say. It was ordered on the 5th Feb and was in stock at that time! So 9 days from order to posting :-(

Whats there e-mail address at the moment?

I believe that Play pay VAT and import duties on behalf of the recipient when the item costs more than 18 pounds, ie Play pre-pays your custom charges. This is why they are able to offer a refund on any custom charges that you face on delivery and why comparisons of box set prices with other e-tailers is less favourable than similar comparisons for single/ two disc releases.
