Just recently bought a Samsung LE26A456 TV from Dixons, but seem to be having problems watching freeview.

Every few minutes the signal just seems to drop for about a second with the picture going blocky and sound dropping out on the BBC channels. It seems to do it on the other channels as well but no where near as frequent. I plugged a Goodmans freevew box in the scart and tried freeview from that and the signal never drops out.

Anyone else have this problem with Samsung TVs? Would it be the internal Samsung freeview tuner is weaker than the Goodmans box or is it some kind of fault with the TV's internal freeview tuner?

Had a similar problem with my Samsung telly, although the main 5 freeview channels were fine all the others would sporadically go all blocky (could not get virgin1 at all). If you go into the system settings there is a screen that shows the signal strength, transmitter id etc, you might need to adjust your aerial, which is what I did and problem solved.

I've seen that menu with the signal strength. I have it on before and watched it go from about 70% to around no signal suddenly quite a few times.

If it works perfectly using the Goodmans freeview box shouldn't it mean the aerial is ok?

Think built-in freeview sucks. Got the same problem with my parents Panasonic tv. It took months for channels such as Five US, QVC etc to appear and 99% of the time you can't get a signal, or they stutter and drop-out. Plug a standalone box into the same aerial and 100% fine. Couldn't even get channel 5 until about 6 months ago even though we had a new aerial fitted and that works for non-freeview channels.
Not sure if it's to do with old firmware, hardware etc?

I had one of the USB TV sticks that I plugged the same aerial as the tv and had no problems, but the Samsung would go from 70% to 0% and then loose the channels all together. A little adjustment and it was fine.

Like the last post check your firmware and update to the latest version.

Adjust the aerial; if it still does not work then it may be the TV. At least you have looked at all the alternatives, before going to the trouble of sending it back.

Hope this helps
