I have this and you get loads of war for your money, including a whole extra set of programmes that wasn't on TV. Not much beats the series itself though, from the quiet tragedy of the opening look at a deserted French village that was destroyed in the war through to the imperious episode on Stalingrad.

Great cameo from James Stewart also who appears as an Air Force 'talking head' without any fanfare whatsoever, he's just another guy delivering his memories to the camera.

Essential stuff.

It's on BBC 2 every Saturday. A great show, and probably the best doc I've ever seen.

Ooh, thanks for that Alan. I've been meaning to get this for a while but it's always been too expensive.
