Is there such a thing as an equivalent to PDC with freeview that allows me to catch programmes that start late or not to scheduled time?

I use a PVR and a media center and neither can do it, I have to just pad the recordings at either end which doesn't always work when the snooker final runs on for an hour.

Given I could do this on an old vhs recorder how come the brave new digital age doesn't allow for this? Am I missing something?

It is part of the Freeview+ spec but does need broadcasters to use it accurately (same for PDC though). Sounds like your PVR is not looking for it?

The newer Humaxes (9x range) have it, just like many other PVRs, but on the Humax it will not work if you include your own padding.

Yep the newer Humaxes (both on Freeview and Freesat) do this really well - it's a great boon especially with series record.

BUT as far as I can see only BBC and ITV main channels send the information with a high level of reliability. The other channels can be annoyingly hit and miss and of course the gonzo digital channels don't bother.

Your PVR must be to Freeview + standard for it to work.

That explains it then, my PVR is an old Digifusion jobby.

Is there no way to utilise this in Media Center?
