Oh yes! We don't get many westerns and it's nice to see a sequel to the great original, even if this one hasn't been developed by Capcom, who dropped it for it to be picked up by Rockstar.
CVG (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=207421)
Official Website (http://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption/)
Due out in Autumn 2009.
Developed by Rockstar San Diego, as a follow up to the 2004 hit game, Red Dead Revolver, Red Dead Redemption is a Western epic, set at the turn of the 20th century when the lawless and chaotic badlands began to give way to the expanding reach of government and the spread of the Industrial Age. The story of former outlaw, John Marston, Red Dead Redemption takes players on a great adventure across the American frontier.
"The team at San Diego have massively exceeded our expectations with the sheer depth of experiences in Red Dead Redemption," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "The seamless combination of breathtaking beauty and intense action, all woven together with strong plotlines in a massive vibrant, rural environment is mind-blowing. We think this game helps to push the limits of what an open-world gaming experience can be."
Utilizing Rockstar's proprietary Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE), Red Dead Redemption features an open-world environment for players to explore, including frontier towns, rolling prairies teeming with wildlife, and perilous mountain passes - each packed with an endless flow of varied distractions.
Along the way, players will experience the heat of gunfights and battles, meet a host of unique characters, struggle against the harshness of one of the world's last remaining wildernesses, and ultimately pick their own precarious path through an epic story about the death of the Wild West and the gunslingers that inhabited it.

I hated the duels in the first one. So awkward.
Ooooooh this could be good. Sandbox Western with the latest GTA engine sounds like a must-buy to me. "Gun" was fun despite the awful last-gen graphics, so it should be a no-brainer to get this right with some decent visuals.
The Wild West is such a massively untapped time, so I hope they make a good stab at it.
Rag doll/Euphoria horse riding could equal much hilarity...

Been waiting ages for a sequel. RDR is still the best western game imo. This sounds awsome. Totally agree with Dno on the "untapped" comment.

I agree RDR has never been beaten, by far the best western of all time. Very much looking forward to this game. Hopefully they can get Ennio Morricone back for music again

I would say my favourite western game is Outlaws by Lucasarts closely followed by RDR and Gun.
Excellent news, if we can get a true openworld environment like the GTA of old in the wild west it should be a great game.
I'm just hoping they avoid the "movie" style limitations of GTA4 and go for a more Vice City style.

I like Western settings too. Call of Juarez as quite good, that has a sequel coming soon too. But the more Western games (or movies) the better :)

Just got an email from Rockstar with the new offical trailer, looks promising and can't wait to read some hands on coverage. Also the guy who says "No one has to kill anyone Bill" sounds just like Bill Paxton, freaky.

I loved RD Revolver, so I'm looking forward to this. Untapped potential for the time period is exactly right - there haven't been many quality Wild West games, so here's hoping this is decent.

Is it just me? or do the horses look a bit naff ?
Looks very promising though.
apologies for dupe thread, I am apparently blind :)
I thought the horses looked pretty neat, trailer was very similar to the GTA IV trailers at the beginning of last year.
I WANT this game. If Rockstar can deliver their usual high standards of immersive open world gameplay, great storytelling and characters, lots activities etc then this could be one of my favourite games of the year. I loved Outlaws and Gun was good as well. I can't see a reason why this couldn't become the best Western game ever made and who better to do it than Rockstar.

After watching the new trailer, I played a little of the original game today and it's a quality title. The overall polish of the menus, the atmosphere, the story and the interesting, quirky (if stereotypical) characters really add a charm to the game. Surprised it's taken this long for a sequel to appear.
Is that Mila Kunis at the end of the trailer?
I received an e-mail from Rockstar with a couple of IGN links:

Looks good, nice to see some in-game footage for a change.
This really can't come soon enough, please please please don't include the silly relationship system from GTA4 so I have to stop halfway through robbing a train to take a senorita out for a horseride and a whisky.
Looks much better than I was expecting. Now really looking forward to this.
Looks very atmospheric, I will certainly pick this up.
Looks great. I hope that taking people alive has a rewarding challenge to it.
Looks very cool, the original was the game I missed most when my PS2 packed up and died. I just hope they keep the fun multi-player games with split screen, they were a good way to hone the unusual controls.

Just been watching that, it's really looking great.
I'm still a little worried about the rumours from mismanagement and problems with the Red Dead team, an open world Wild West could be amazing. I'm just hoping they don't do something stupid to mess it up.
It really looks so lovely, it is so smooth and fluid and awesome.
Getting quite excited for this game, everything looks and sounds fantastic!
Eurogamer have put up a 'Hands On' article --> http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/red-dead-redemption-hands-on
It may not be as awe-inspiringly gorgeous as the vistas of Uncharted 2, but there's a crucial difference. Everything you see - and the view stretches for miles around - you can visit. That, in essence, is the wide-eyed promise of Red Dead Redemption: the great, unconquered frontier that lies before you.
A word on the music. Inspired by the great big screen westerns, the Redemption score's blend of portentous pedal notes, snarling muted trumpets, seedy basslines and wistful harmonica riffs feels entirely appropriate and dynamically adapts to the action. Brilliantly judged licensed soundtracks are a staple of the GTA series; here the soundtrack is entirely original (and Rockstar coyly teases that an announcement about the composer will come).

They do love their attention to detail, it's weird really as they all look good in the trailers but I know half of that stuff won't matter to me or will just get in the way when I'm trying to enjoy the game - all the stuff about newspapers, hearing stories around campfires, all the hunting, etc.. when I'm playing it I'll just want to do the fun missions.
It's much like GTA4 and having to keep all your friends happy and the dates etc., in reality I find it just gets in the way rather than adding to the fun.
I have similar thoughts..
All that stuff makes for a good trailer, but I wonder how much of it will be just-the-once kind of thing while trying things out. The drinking for example will be pretty pointless in the scheme of the game I should imagine.
The core game does look bloody good though, and I look forward to some horsey action.
Looks incredible...hope the gameplay matches up to it.

The drinking might not be pointless. It had a purpose in GTA and made you all wobbly visioned!

... and I look forward to some horsey action.
Just keeps looking better and better, May can't come soon enough. The hunting/drinking/campfire aspects look ok to me just so long as they seperate them from the core gameplay.
That's why I hated GTA4, I had no interest in going bowling with someone and the more phonecalls I got the worse it became until I just stopped playing the game. I'm sure some people really loved those aspects and I'm all in favour of putting them in the game but design it so they're available if you want to rather than pushing them onto the player.
What I'm really hoping for is a Wild West game with a level of involvement like GTA San Andreas, if I want to do the missions then the missions are there for me. If I want to ignore the missions and go fight bandits or terrorise a town or wander off into the wilderness to hunt stuff and then sell the results for a new gun I'm free to do so without silly interuptions trying to push me towards other activities.
I've got such great memories of ignoring the missions and going off to do stupid stuff in San Andreas and the earlier games. When the rumours of the bigfoot in the forests surfaced I grabbed a dirt bike and spent ages exploring those areas. Later I grabbed a parachute and spent a while basejumping off tall buildings looking for the highest.
When May arrives I'm getting my 10 gallon hat, shot glass and Deadwood box sets and it's going to be Red Read Redemption month.

I loved the first one and I love GTA but I doubt this sandbox game will be as good.
It's lacking the varied methods of transport GTA has to offer but hopefully it will be so good in other areas you won't miss them to badly.

I thought that at first but if Rockstar really go all out in the sandbox approach we could have horses, stagecoaches, trains, bicycles, those two man rail car thingys.
I'm even seeing the first motorised cars and trucks with gatling guns in the back in one trailer
It's no Just Cause 2 but being able to shrug off the mission at hand to set up an elaborate train heist and then hijack the train to make your getaway. I also want to be able to recreate the Deadwood Tom Nuttall bicycle challenge.
Maybe I'm getting too excited about the game and we'll end up with a GTA 4 variant where I have to chase someone on a horse who is indestructible until they reach a particular point where a cut scene takes place forcing me to make some worthless character choice to aid a redundant morality scheme. But I sure hope not.....
I always find the strangest things in these sandbox titles the most interesting, in GTA China Town I ignored the main story line quests to spend hours on the drug dealing side game. In San Andreas I spent ages looking for places to basejump, jacked a dirt bike to go bigfoot hunting in the hills and stuck with the flight school quests to get the jetpack. In Crackdown I'd climb anything of interest to find achievements and orbs and in GTA 3 I tried the Chunky Lee Chong mission several ways including taking his car to have a bomb fitted to see if he'd try to use it to escape and blocking his car in with fire trucks and buses to force a foot chase.
It made me sad when I got to GTA4 with it's forced decisions, intrusive plot devices and the "smash the window with a brick" quest where there are objects all around I can use but I'm made to scour the area to find the one special brick I have to use.

I agree with everything you said cluderi.
My opinion was biased as about 5% of my time in GTA has been in the single player. The rest has been spent in multiplayer free roam which never ever gets boring.
I hope that the free roam in RDR will be just as entertaining but I have my doubts.
One thing all the GTA games manage to do is get the soundtrack and ambient sounds right. If they get it right for this, it'll be awesome.

I'm looking forward to hunting the wildlife and selling the skins. Must be all these years as a vegetarian!!
Up to this point everything I've seen of Red Dead Redemption has looked awesome. But this latest trailer didn't do much for me. I think it was the way it made the characters look a bit too silly and I think GTA 4's more gritty approach would translate well to the wild west.
Whilst it would be historically inaccurate, I would love to hear Metallica's For Whom The Bell Tolls in there somewhere.

You only really need harmonicas and some Sergio Leone.

All they need to do is license Morricone's Spaghetti western scores & slap them over the top of it = WIN! :D

Or Deadwood style score. Agree with the above 2 posts though.
I really hope they get the music right. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is still my favourite film of all time and a lot of that is due to the amazing sound track.
The Saboteur stuck to lots of old tunes and they worked really well. Killing Germans to the sound of Nina Simone - Feeling Good was great :D

Looks very impressive and gives a good indication of what you can expect from the gameplay as you travel around the world.
Roll on May 18th.
It come out on the 21st
Just got around to watching the latest video, this is still looking to be a must buy for me. Since it turns out I can go "Seth Bullock", become a angry yet moral crusader then start handing out angry Wild West whuppings to random groups in towns I meet all I really need now is the ability to buy a saloon and hire a couple of guys named Dan and Johnny to tend bar and occasionally murder people who get in my way.
Time to start watching Deadwood again.

Red Dead Redemption to have greatest multiplayer lobby ever (http://gamer.blorge.com/2010/04/06/red-dead-redemption-to-have-greatest-multiplayer-lobby-ever/)
Rockstar Network has the latest scans from Playstation Magazine describing the multiplayer lobby in Red Dead Redemption. The lobby looks like a “wild west MMORPG” where gamers can walk around and talk with NPCs and live gamers.
Here are some of the highlights from the scan:
* Create a "posse" and roam freely about the map
* Engage in hunting wild animals, to hunting other gamers
* ad hoc missions (like besieging a desert ranch filled with bandits)
* Gain experience points which can be used to customize appearance and upgrade horse, weapons and "title"
* Unlock new multiplayer modes like the standard 16-player deathmatch and team based "capture the bag"
New multiplayer video coming tomorrow according to the Rockstar twitter page.

This game can't come fast enough.
Eurogamer hands on report...
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/red-dead-redemption-hands-on_5
The free roam multiplayer looks excellent because it doesn't take you out of the world, though there is the standard structured multiplayer as well. The thing is though, now I'm going to have divided loyalties when the game is released - between experiencing the world of Red Dead Redemption for myself through the single player game (1st choice) and the appeal of playing multiplayer and levelling up my character (2nd choice but if I leave it until 2nd everyone will be more powerful by the time I get round to playing multiplayer).

That's a dilemma I always have too and usually end up avoiding the multiplayer side. This is something that I don't want to happen with this game, as it looks to have such a rich and rewarding gameworld both in single player AND multiplayer.

I'm seriously thinking that this could turn out to be the best game ever made. I can't remember the last time I was this excited about a game!
That looks to be one of the best multiplayer integrations into a game I've seen, not too much structure so it's got nothing but a number of basic modes and nothing else but enough so you don't feel lost or aimless.
May 21st can't come soon enough, if we had snow over here I'd consider doing a Cartman "cryogenic freeze" and have someone come wake me up a few hours before release.

As Baps said, Holy Crap!
On the must buy list for sure now!!!
It's very rare that a title generating this amount of "game boners" lives up to the hype, so if you guys could all pretend you've never heard of it until release date I'll just sit here quietly in my own drool pretending to be a cowboy and challenging my work mates to imaginary gun fights until May 21st.
I don't want to anger the gaming gods and have them mysteriously strike down the game with "Mario Sunshine Camera disease" or "Bioshock pipemania minigame syndrome".
P.S.
I'm so getting myself a donkey for multiplayer

I really hope it doesn't have some awkward/hard to get used to camera angle, it's going to be strange playing in 3rd person again. Looking forward to joining a posse though, skinning some grizzlies, sounds great fun.

Just a shame that the MP and SP are seperate, I would have loved to do all my hunting & skinning with my posse and then take the money i've earned from that into the SP game. When will they learn. Game does look great though.
Now I just need to decide if its worth spending the extra £10 to get the special edition.

I did wonder if the CD would have movie themes on it, but apparently the game features an original score. It would be nice if they throw in a few recognized tunes though.
The MP sounds really good. Not too bothered that it isn't part of the single player campaign as it sounds like they've tailored missions anyway, which probably means there'll be some achievements to hunt for with friends and a bit more longevity than say GTA 4.

That's from Zavvi using the discount code 'MVC3' (£3 off orders over £30 expires on the 30th April).

Yeah I got that a few months back, not sure if its the same packaging as yours...my Rome boxsets came in the wooden boxsets this though has a large box holding the 3 seperate series. Either I got a faulty boxset from amazon or its the worse packaging ever made, find it a hell of a struggle getting into the box and getting the individual series out of it, everything is just so tightly packed. :|
Im still holding out in the slim hope that Tesco or Asda do a deal on this, massive title so heres hoping.
I've no idea on the best platform for this and had to guess at 360 being ok when I put down my pre-order on the limited edition.
If I find out now that the PS3 version has some extra component or plays better then I'll be a sad panda.

Is this coming out for the pc in future? Don't see myself getting an xbox or ps3. Loved Gun on the gamecube, there's just not enough good western themed games.
With a 360 version and it being Rockstar I wouldn't be surprised if there was a PC version in the future but one hasn't been confirmed yet as far as I know.

What rumblings Dr V?
The game development has been a complete nightmare from the start (See also; LA NOIRE - coincidentally another Rockstar game). The final game bares no resemblance whatsoever to the original game that they started working on. Add to that the game has actually been in development for 6 years, which is somewhat of a crazy amount of time. Though given that Red Dead Revolver came out in 2004 personally I think it's more likely the game has been in development for 4 years, which is still a long time to be making a game.
It was described by one person as a "Money sucking disaster" though I will say that supposedly the people at Rockstar have been impressed with how the game has turned out, and given that they need to sell a MASSIVE amount of games to make a profit (About 3.5 million units) they're just concentrating on proving they can do more than GTA.
A while ago I was told "Not to expect much" but honest with each new trailer I just forget all that and get more and more enthusiastic.
Rumblings or not - this game looks brilliant.
Can't wait. Always wanted to be a cowboy.
I'd say Rockstar's biggest hurdle is sale numbers, you lot may scoff but releasing a western today is risky, because the market for it is niche. Yes we all wanna saddle up and take a trip back to the ol' wild west, but an awful lot of the 'cool kids' who picked up GTA will just look at this and have no interest in it

But similarly disastrous and money swallowing. No one who actually started work on that game is still on it, apart from the project lead. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with another Duke Nukem situation with that game.

That's a fair point. The game may very well top GTA in it's content and gameplay but the genre (which appeals to us old farts who grew up on westerns) just may not connect with the youth.

Multiplayer Q & A. (some interesting, some not)
“Is there auto aim on multiplayer for RDR?”
Like the single player game, there are three targeting modes available to choose from: Casual, Normal and Expert. Casual is full lock, Normal snaps-to-target but does not lock on, and Expert has no assist. You can configure your own personal targeting to suit your preferences in any game by using the multiplayer playlists in the menu.
For Competitive games, there are Casual playlists for all game types that are exclusively Casual targeting mode, or that allow players to mix it up and play against each other across a variety of the three targeting types.
There are also playlists for Gang Matches and Free For All games which allow players to use Normal or Expert targeting together (but not Casual).
For advanced players that prefer to strictly play against other free-aimers, Hardcore and Veteran playlists that exclusively support Expert targeting can be used for all Gang Matches and Free For All Games.
It’s also worth noting that honing your multiplayer skills with the more advanced Normal and Expert targeting styles will reward you with bonus XP to level up faster than those using Casual.
“Can we only have 16 players be in a "free roam" lobby world? I was hoping that there could be lots of real players in a single "free roam" world but either way it will be awesome.”
Our goal is to ensure that Red Dead Redemption’s multiplayer sits comfortably alongside the single-player game in terms of our own incredibly high standards of quality, production values and attention to detail. Red Dead's multiplayer gives players online a gigantic open world to roam around in, complete with a fully functioning ecosystem including animals to hunt and horses to ride, ambient challenges, towns full of NPCs and law enforcement… all taking place under a dynamic day/night cycle and weather system – as well as the option to dive into competitive modes at any time, all without sacrificing the detail that makes the single-player game so amazing. Trust that with 16 players all able to jump in and out of any aspect of this world at any time, Red Dead Redemption’s multiplayer pushes the limits to the brink of what’s currently possible with open-world multiplayer on consoles.
“Will there be health regeneration???”
Yes. As in the single-player game, your health will regenerate as you play multiplayer matches.
"Has the cover/aiming system been updated since Grand Theft Auto IV... mainly ability to aim out of cover without firing?"
Yes, you can aim while in cover, which will spin you out/up to display the reticule and set your shot before firing the weapon. You will not be able to aim precisely without leaning out to fire, but you can look around while in cover in order to blindfire (with less precision) or to set up your inital aim in preparation for leaning out to take a shot.
“I wonder how the dead eye will feel in multiplayer mode?”
We have designed it to be both fun and effective in the multiplayer modes. It doesn’t slow down time like it does in the single-player game for obvious reasons, but painting targets to take down multiple enemies can be great strategy in modes like Gold Rush, where more than one opponent is fighting over the same objective.
“R* can we enter a team multiplayer game like Grab The Bag without being in a posse?”
Yes. Creating posses in multiplayer isn’t a requirement, it just makes things easier and more fun for you and your friends, especially in Free Roam sessions where you may want to tackle some of the challenges together, like heading out to a gang hideout or looking for a hunting challenge.
“Are the posses always the same or do they change if u go off online like they’re just teams for that round?”
Each time you head into Red Dead Redemption multiplayer, you will create new posses according to the players in your session. While posses are not persistent offline, if you and your friends want to always play together as a ruthless band of outlaws, we’ve made the multiplayer menu and invite system simple and easy enough to find each other online, posse up, and challenge others in Competitive matches whenever you’d like.
"How many weapons can you carry at once?"
There is no hard limit to the amount of weapons you can carry - you can carry every weapon you pick up, and switch between weapons in a given class using the d-pad + weapon in the pause menu. In Competitive matches, different areas will have different weapon load-outs - for example, the larger area of Diez Coronas offers a sniper rifle to offset the power of the cannon and gatling gun placements. Choosing the appropriate weapon for the task, and conserving ammo for that weapon is key to effective strategy.
"Hey R* I still need to know, will we be able to swim in RDR?"
As an outlaw character who's spent most of his life on horseback in the land-locked territories of the West - John Marston is not much of a swimmer. If he has to cross a body of water, transport will be provided. John has no problem wading, but if he gets too deep, he will drown.
"Can your horse jump?"
Yes. Not only can you make your horse jump at any time, but your horse's basic intelligence enables it to vault over low objects and avoid other obstacles - like cliff edges - naturally, allowing you to focus on the business of riding and/or shooting.
“The multiplayer info so far looks awesome!!! What’s up with the shootouts that happen when you start a match? How’d you guys come up with that??”
Throughout the development of the game, we were looking for as many classic Western moments to pack into the game as possible. The concept of a Mexican stand-off, with gunfighters suspensefully poised, looking into the eyes of their killers seemed well suited to the game and also a great way to get acquainted with the players in a match before you set about trying to kill them. Team Games start with both sides lined up in a Showdown. Free For All matches start with the Standoff with everyone in a circle. It makes it really tense with everyone pointing their gun at other players – and it is actually possible for everyone to get killed right at the start.

That settles it, I'll definitely be concentrating on single player first. Looking forward to taking in the atmosphere, exploring this massive open world and having my choices definiing the journey through the story etc etc.
I've nothing against multiplayer but so much of that sense of isolation and discovery would be lost if I played multiplayer first.

I spent ages wandering the streets of GTA IV and missed the achievement for finishing in a certain time, i will probably stick the multiplayer in first and explore, play around etc and then hit the single player, unless they haven't bothered with that achievement this time.
I think RDR is this years favorite game for me.
From the latest XBOX email, it seems that Rockstar will be "sending everyone something" that downloads the trailer...
After reading that hands on I can't wait for release date, I've got the day booked off and my pre-order is in.
I'll be hitting the single player for a lot of the weekend, I can't think of any achievement I'd want less than one for rushing through this. If the Guardian write up is close to true I'll be able to blow off the main storyline and just spend hours wandering around looking for content.

My money is on a code to unlock a certain outfit/weapon.

I imagine they will let you drive "the first production line motorcars". Maybe a nod to GTA in that section.
As long as they're comically crap, and out classed by horses in almost every way, that'd be cool.
I want to gallop along side one, drop some TNT in the back, and calmly ride off.

I hope so too, I was starting to become concerned reading all parts about "increases in technology" in the Guardian preview, I hope it doesn't play a bit part in the game.

Great review from the Guardian, has made it all the more appealing.
I'm wondering, will some areas of the map be blocked off to start with, like GTA?
I personally don't want to see cars of any kind in this game, give me an old donkey and I'll be happy. Looking forward to hearing the soundtrack details now.

I didn't think the ltd edition looked that great, was reading a few sites earlier on and people were arguing about if its worth getting it . As far as I know you get a golden gun which raises your fame when used, an outfit which extends deadeye time and one of the better horses plus the soundtrack.
Lots of people on the thread I was reading were speculating about the ltd edition gun/costume/horse and saying there unlocked in the game or at the end of the story.
I did the Golden Guns/Skins/Perks thing with Uncharted 2 Ltd Edition, with this im almost happier having the crappiest six shooters going and riding about on eeyore for a good few hours thus getting the full experience.

With the standard edition, you generally get one of those things depending on where you pre-order anyway. With Amazon for instance, I get the Golden guns.

Friend of Dean Martinez (http://www.myspace.com/friendsofdeanmartinez) are doing the Soundtrack according to an interview in 360 magazine last month. As fine exponents of "desert rock" it should be very good.

It's set during the death of the old west so I'm pretty certain you'll see at least a few cars as well as some more modern weaponary such as automatic pistols.

Ah cheers. Didn't realise that, I went for the Tesco £28 deal from last week but there useless when it comes to listing preorder content/knowing the products on their site. :)
I know Zavvi were doing a mini guide incentive. In my case though I've had these "mini" guides with a few preorders/limited editions and generally haven't been impressed plus its not really my thing when you've just got a game to be thumbing through a guide.

Nice..
Rockstar today announced that Red Dead Redemption will not only boast an expansive single player mode and a robust multiplayer arena, but the game will also receive free DLC in June in the form of a series of co-operative multiplayer missions.
The "Outlaws to the End Co-Op Mission Pack" will offer Red Dead players 6 unique co-op missions for 2 to 4 players and as well as adding new achievements, you also get the chance to net yet more multiplayer XP.
Of the 6 missions, Rockstar found time to detail three of them today and they include; "Walton's Gold," where players must take control of a mining camp, load a mine cart with gold and escape before the place blows; "The River," which tasks players with rafting down a river, taking out a rebel camp and making off with their weapons cache; and "Ammunition," where players must storm the gates of a town and destroy the artillery placements.
Hmm free + new cheevos, not something MS usually allows, they must have high hopes for this
So are we gonna have a Digi Fix posse?

Sounds cool. One thing I was always dissapointed with GTA IV for was lack of multiplayer missions. Really hope this all lives up to the promise. :)

Scores 9/10 in new GamesTM. The review reads like it'd rate lower though.
Bit worrying thing is they point out the movement is a bit more sluggish than controlling Niko Bellic. Concerned as I've been playing GTA4 recently and Niko turns and moves like treacle sometimes.
I did a quick search of Gamefaqs and there were links to the review in one of the threads there. On the whole Red Dead Redemption sounds like a quality game. Whether or not the optional activities you can get involved with while exploring will immerse you even more in the world seems open to debate based on that review. However, I really enjoyed Gun and did just about every side mission in that game and Red Dead Redemption seems to expand on that sort of gameworld and gameplay in just about every way so I doubt I'll be disappointed. Glad I read the review as I can keep some of my expectations about what to expect from the open world part of the game in check.
Anybody still not preordered this ..i've just ordered it from The Hut (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=81) enter MM10 at the checkout and you can get it for £31.62
