Link not working for me
Just to clear up an issue - the saving doesn't seem to be shown until you go to confirm the delivery address.
To quote my comment in the Play thread:
Don't know what happened, but I was doing the Amazon 3 for 2 deal and I just got
Resident Evil 1
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3
Bram Stokers Dracula
Hell Boy
& 300
...for £33.91!
In the end I got 9 titles for £51. it seemed to work out closer to 3 for 1 rather than 3 for 2... result!

That hasn't worked since you first posted. I tried he same titlesand they wanted to charge the £51 for the six.

Amazon need to stop making mahusive ebooks and get their crap in order first.

Can't see any new titles in there though,
Talking about Amazon searches - you can't even search alphabetically!
The Amazon search technology has been useless for a long time now - they make it slightly better every so often but its rubbish for the most part.

"Sort by: Price Low to High" Why doesn't it work???
It's because it seems to include all of the used prices in the filter too. If a Blu-Ray is £20 from Amazon but has a used version on the marketplace for £1, that'll show up in the search first once you've filtered them. It's ridiculous, really!
That hasn't worked since you first posted. I tried he same titlesand they wanted to charge the £51 for the six.
It looks like it was applying the discount twice.
I placed a 'test' order ;)
It looks like it was applying the discount twice.
I placed a 'test' order ;)
so you managed to get this to work too? can you explain how cause i just tried the same "test" and it didnt work :P
Well, one title has been shipped but it had two lots of discount applied. I have no idea how they calculate these things, it all seems very random.
The other two items are coming from Chocolate Starfish so who knows, one may end up being full price.
That's really odd, just checked my confirmation again and it clearly says £33.91.

For a while I did think that it was a voucher from my amazon CC, but could find no trace of it. I just got my dispatch email for 5 of them and it would appear that ste7en was right, it's applied the discount twice:

Old one, milking it.
However, some new titles in it. There will be Blood and Enemy of the State are in there.
I dunno, the BD bargains are about as exciting as BD new releases these days...

Black Hawk Down
Dracula
Tears of the Son
Close Encounters etc
Corking bargains at £6 each.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Tears of the Sun
Thirteen Ghosts
Rambo IV

I have it and it isn't great. Very grainy. Lots of optical effects so it was never that great looking. But I don't recall it ever looking like this.
I saw it at the cinema and have the big Criterion LD set and the Superbit DVD.
Still, it does have good stable colours.
Well, I went for:
Into The Blue
The Pursuit Of Happyness
Vacancy
Hostel
Hostel Part II
Life Of Brian

Start at the beginning, bro'. The restoration on Dr No has resulted in an utterly gorgeous encode that is one of the most 'filmlike' presentations I've yet seen in the home.
I myself was initially skeptical of what Blu-ray would bring to the Bond party, especially after having bought the movies four time over already, but Dr No made me a true believer. It's seriously stunning, and you lot are still procrastinating even though it's in a flippin' 3-for-2 offer? BUY YOU FOOLS!!
Graham Smith
11-02-2009, 20:27
I'm procrastinating because the original mono tracks aren't available. Are they anywhere else, say like Australia, as the US discs are region locked?
The surround sound mix on the 2006 SE DVD of OHMSS was dreadful and ruined the film for me.

That's what I'm doing, thing is I only want the "Connery" and " Moore" Films, and as 5 of the first 6 released fit into that category I'm finding it hard to find one more Film, would go for either "The Fog" or "Die Hard" but I've heard the PQ is not worth the upgrade from SD (I'm only really an old school fan, not into moden stuff) I'm kinda hoping "Zulu" will appear, here or at Play, I hear that's an excellent transfer :)

I watched Die Hard Blu Ray on my PJ last evensong via LoveFilm/Tesco, have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the PQ it was far better than I imagined, TBH though IMO sticking to 'old school' will always have rather duff Blu ray transfers in comparison to newer Blu Rayu stuff, which to me kind of destroys the idea of Blu Ray. For the extortionate amount some discs are priced at it just aint worth it and offers bang for buck not much over DVD copies. So I am almost coming back to agreeing with your point!

I think that's complete rubbish, some of the best transfers on the format are for older films. The Godfather Trilogy for instance.

I've often wondered how they get older Films looking better than newer modern Films, so was 70mm common place for Films of that era, is it also an aspect ration thing?
It was popular during the 1960's/1970's but has actually been around for much longer. Lawrence of Arabia is another one from that time period. The more recent 1992 Baraka movie was also done using 70mm which is why it looks so stunning on BD.
70mm more or less died out by the 1980's due to 35mm being cheaper. There are still some applications for 70mm such as Imax cinemas (put in sideways!!).
Isn't it more to do with the fact that older films were shot "in camera" whereas most modern films go through digital post processing, and they often change the look of the film so that the SFX blend in better? So many modern films look flat and grey, even in the cinema.

That is just the way they want it to look. It is a technique I don't like as I much prefer the colour of something such as using Technicolor.
35mm is just cheaper and that is good enough for most studios to use it. There was no digital processing in the 1980's either.

Geez their website is poorly done. No alphabetical listing, sort by price DOESN'T sort by price.
Then when I ordered 6 I noticed that it was only discounting one of them. Had to ring them up and they had to set 2 of them to zero to get the right price.
So be careful if you order a bunch that the discount is showing up.
Received from Indigo Starfish CE3K and Identity sealed. Blackhawk Down has broken case and ripped sleeve and you can't do an exchange,
NOTE: We don't offer an exchange program at this time. However, you're welcome to return the item for a refund and then place a new order for the item you want in exchange.
Also note that we aren't able to offer policy exceptions or special handling in response to comments entered on this page.
Not to happy.
EDIT: If I were to return it how much would I get refunded as its part of a 3 for 2?

Are you sure the quoted message applies to returning a faulty product? The way I read it it simply means you can't return an item A (e.g. unwanted gift) and exchange it for item B.
What you want is not an exchange but a replacement. I've had faulty items from them before. Always received a replacement without any problems.

I logged into my account, clicked on return item and under all the items there was the note above. Never had to return anything from them so not sure how it works.

Not sure if it's just me being a moron (probably!) but the discount didn't always seem to register at the checkout. I had placed 6 titles in my basket and only had discount equivalent to 1 title. Looking at the items 5 would've come from Indigo and 1 from Amazon. When I removed the Amazon item and replaced it with an alternative Indigo item the discount worked out; similarly if I placed 3 Amazon items in the basket the discount worked (it was actually 3 off of the same item, just to make sure it was part of the offer). Do they really have to be ordered in multiples of 3 from the same supplier, or was I just experiencing a funny?

Hmm, just me then!
I was having problems adding Man On Wire and Black Sheep, which (probably insignificantly) I noticed end in 97p, whereas the items that seemed to get accepted end in 98p. I can find non-existent patterns in anything! :dork:
Prices for CE3K, Into The Blue and so on have dropped back to £8.98 by the way.

I noticed this too, then I noticed that guaranteed free next day delivery (I'm on a month's trial of Prime) was only selected for two of them and wasn't available for the third (I couldn't figure out why not). When I changed them all to 1st class the discount worked fine. It does say somewhere that all three items have to have the same delivery option to get the discount.

Casino Royale deluxe is a bit of a bargain if it works, it's only 7.98.

I've had a selection of "dispatching soon" and "not yet dispatched" ever since I placed the orders last night. I wouldn't count any chickens until it says "dispatched".
Edit - I missed a pun of Partridge-esque proportions there, didn't I? 'Disp-hatched'! Haw haw haw :dork:.

I stuck in a few orders at around half past ten last night, checking this morning everything in stock is showing as dispatching soon but nothing has been dispatched yet, will be nice if they come through.
Dispatching soon is usually what Amazon label something while they decide what to do with the order.
I've had a few in the past go from "dispatching soon" to "canceled".
Who knows

I've had my first one sent out. Ordered I am Legend and the two Kill Bills for £17.51 and I am Legend is on it's way. Just hope they send the other 17 disks

I've ordered 9 blurays too in 3 separate transactions. I've just had an automated call from Barclaycard Fraud Protection asking me to confirm a few transactions , most in the region of £3-£4 from Indigo and Amazon SEU or something which has apparently been approved. I've had to confirm that they are genuine transactions so it looks like they may be honouring them after all - fingers crossed! :)

Play have also adopted a similar policy with big ticket items, goes to "Packing" almost immediately, stops you cancelling :oh-hum: I've had "Packing" on Play item for Days.

I've got a feeling Amazon might have found out about this.
I've got a Prime account and when I order anything in stock, 99% of the time it's posted by lunchtime the following day. A number of mine are still showing as 'dispatching soon'.
Time will tell. If it comes off, my Bluray collection will overtake the size of my HD DVD collection (at a similar cost!).

I ordered 12 using Prime and the 1st 2 lots of 3 have just been posted so there is hope.

Since this bargain seems to be over, it looks like they've fixed the 3-for-2: anyone wanting a combo like No country for old men, There will be blood and The Orphanage can get them in now for under £20

Hellboy
Jerry Maguire

Also winging it's way to me... Got desparate and stuck a few filler items there as you can see ;) For circa £4 not bad at all - it's like buying HD-DVDs all over again, much cheapness! :D
9 out of 12 are on their way to me. glad i stayed up late last night now
4 out of 6 sent all via the Super Saver delivery :D
8 out of 9 for me. I forgot to remove the postage on one batch of 3 and they are being sent same timeframe. Bit of a waste of money that. Still I'll get over it with £3.34 for some cracking discs
4 out of 6 so far for me.
Pikey meltdown!!!
