View Full Version : Is X (anime) any good?

Since getting Airkra & Ghost in the shell, i've been looking for more cyber-punk anime to get my teeth into and i spotted this title coming to R2 in the next few weeks. Is it any good? and is the disc anamorphic? Because the R1 wasn't.

Could anyone recommend more cyber-punk anime?

I've not seen it, but have heard it's good looking if not too deep. It's due out today according to the adverts, along with the superb Castle Of Cagliostro......

Cyberpunk anime? Cyber City Oedo 808 is pretty good, as is Akira, Angel Cop, and I guess you could call the Patlabor movies cyberpunk in a way.....

I actually have this on pre-order, it's supposed to come out on the 18th, but thanks for the tip. :D Cyber City Oedo 808 So what's that all about then? I was put off Patlabor when people told me it didn't have a proper ending, i like my stories to be neatly tied up :D

Patlabor 1 & 2 are among my fav anime films, to say that they don't have a proper ending is down to interpretation really. The ending is resolved but in typical anime way if you know what I mean :)

The spec for X (if Play.com have it correct) is:

I *believe* we're talking about the same movie here but Im not sure. X is meant to be good looking, but that is all. Apparently everything else is an insult to anime (according to the review at IGN, lol), from story to characters, to dub, to ending (even for an anime), to everything.

I have 'X' sitting downstairs unwatched, it arrived a week or two back and I just haven't been that bothered about watching it yet, but I think I may throw it on this afternoon and let ya know what I think ;)
