This is a Tablet PC, hence the much higher price than standard laptops.
However, it's a great price for the spec.

Spec: 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 12.1" 1280x800 screen, Pen + Touch input, webcam, fingerprint reader, Wi-Fi draft n, Bluetooth, 3x USB2, 1x eSATA.

For comparison Dabs.com price is £1167, and even the less featured 10J model costs more everywhere.

The price for the 10L model also seems good; it's the same as the 10K but with 3G onboard as well.

Remember if you want a RAM or HDD upgrade then it's better to buy 3rd party and fit yourself.

Toshiba are also running a Reliability Guarantee. Basically, once registered if the machine fails during the 3 year warranty then you get a repair AND a full refund!

It's worth remembering that Gigabyte's Tablet Netbook is only £520 in 1024x600 flavour http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=174472 or £550 in 1280x768 flavour http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=171309

It's significantly smaller and lighter - obviously the processor is slower, but it's not like either machine is suitable for gaming...

Doubt the Gigabyte has handwriting recognition or the other goodies which you get with a Tablet Edition of Windows, which it lacks.

If you do want cheaper though, then the HP TX2500/TX2600 series, although being phased out, is still available some places for approx £600. A FAR better buy than the Gigabyte, and it even has reasonable gaming graphics!

EG. The top of the range TX2630 for £640 at Comet (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=37&url=http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/505862/HP-TX2630EA)
