View Full Version : Is there a lip sync problem with R1 Fast & Furious?

I've just been watching The Fast and The Furious R1 - the DTS soundtrack, and the section at about an 1 1/4 hrs into it, when the two guys on motorbikes drive past shooting, and just before that I noticed the lip-sync all goes wrong.

Does anyone know if it's a fault with the disc, or if my player (Samsung 709) doesn't like the disc?

I have the same problem on my Toshiba

Sounds like it could be the disc then.

I'll have to have a listen to that part with the DD soundtrack, and see if that's OK.

I actually thought the film had been 'dubbed' in several places as the dialogue just didn't match up and the sound mixing obviously wasn't done as well as it could have been.

I can't say I noticed any lip synch problems on my Toshiba, but then I was paying more attention to the vehicles than the dialogue anyway. ;) I'll need to spin the disc again to see if my copy suffers as well.

It could be that the dialogue was added later (ADR I think it's called), which is quite likely if it was an action scene.

I've just listened to the section again, but with the DD soundtrack, and it seems to be OK, so I think it probably is a problem with the DTS mixing on that bit.

I had the same kind of problem watching 15 Minutes last night in DTS,switched over to DD and it was fine.

15 Minutes R2 has a DTS lip sync problem with most DVD players I believe - don't bother trying to get another as it affects all copies. Same problem exists on Little Nicky and Lost Souls and yes, they are all EiV titles!

I have no problem with TFATF DTS track on my Sammy 709 (firmware 3.28)

Strange how a 3.28 firmware has no probs! To be honest, I have only ever had problems with 2 discs ever on my Sammy 709 - Scream R2 re-release where you had to manually start the movie from the title select and T2:UE freezing in 2 bits (shame it even played at all! :D )

Yes, if that is the reason, it is a bit strange.

I don't think I've had any problems with my player before this either. To be honest, I'm not too bothered - I can always listen to the DD soundtrack instead :)

Yup I noticed a bit of LS too. Nothing major though. I have a 709 too.
