I see this title up for sale/trade all the time and it appears to be very popular and sought after. There are several versions and I wanted to know whether to buy it and if so whether to go Dutch or French?

What about others of the same ilk such as ?Zombie Holocaust etc? I have seen a thread in the advertised that says a new and improved version is on the cards. Can you fill me in (Craig David, this is how we do it........ :D )

I can tell you a bit about LHOTL. The differences between the French & Dutch are minimal i think, both use the same cut of the film, both seem to have similar transfers. I'd go with the Dutch DVD though for 2 reasons:
1. It's cheaper! You can get it for £10.60 delivered from Proxis (http://www.proxis.com/).
2. The French DVD has forced French subs on certian players i think, the Dutch has removable subs regardless of you player model.

Or you could scrap both the French & Dutch versions & wait for the upcoming R1 SE DVD which should be the definitive version.
So, if you've seen the film before & like it, then I suggest waiting for the R1 SE, if you haven't seen the film before, i recommend the Dutch DVD, as it's cheap & easy to offload if you dislike the film! (LHOTL is definitely an acquired taste!)

Wait and see what the R2 is like when it gets released in the summer (if you can wait that long). Apparently a 2-disc edition will be available with a decent number of extras, and there is a chance for it being uncut (the distributors are going to the Appeals Committe about 16 seconds of BBFC-imposed cuts).

Re. LHOTL - just get a cheap VHS version from the States cos you'll only watch it once.

Re. ZH - more of a cannibal film than a zombie flick - not bad but seen better.
