Sound Skipping

Using my LG 3350 and a Yamaha ax620 I have recently started getting sound skipping/breaks/pauses (whatever the name is:))

I've also run a dvd cleaning disc, so I don't think its that.

So I suspect its a dirty optical link...as it only occurs during DVD playback. Whats the best way to check/clean these leads?

unless anybody else knows of other causes?

Tried a coax cable for a test ? :) I used a old phono cable to test my setup before getting a new optical cable :)

um, no I didn't have a video one...I'll try a single audio one.

I did try stereo phono and that worked.

...buying coax? um a solution, but slightly more expensive than cleaning:)

Its got worse...now I'm getting picture stuttering as well:(

No idea why its just started to happen:(

umm might be a hint to upgrade!
