View Full Version : Captain Corelli's Mandolin - R1
Any one know if this is RCE encoded, and how it will compare to the R2 version. I splashed out on it for Valentines Day (as it isn't available in this country until March) but then the old RCE bugbear occurred to me. Wife will not be pleased if the thing doesn't play.......help!
(BTW My DVD is one of the older Wharfdales - don't think it plays RCE disks).
I've got this one. I have a Tosh SD100 and it does play RCE titles, but via a workaround so I know if a title is RCE or not. This one isn't!!
Pretty good disc too - DTS, extras....
The disc isn't RCE, and the movie itself is great with DTS sound, but the lack of extras is unforgiveable. Universal really dropped the ball here, as no doubt a behind the scenes type feature would have been made and a fair few progs were shown on BBC Knowledge around the time of its release, so material is available.
A good number of reviews online have made similar comments on the pee poor effort with regard to extras. :(
Thanks guys - got the disk, in time and it works....Phew!

I don't understand. According to DVD Box Office (http://www.dvdboxoffice.com/description.asp?id=D9144E48-1D41-403B-A14C-A1209D07AC67&browser=IEall&pid=90013963&country=gbp) it has all sorts of extras. Have they got it wrong?
There's no 'Deleted Scenes', nor is there a 'The Making of Captain Corelli's Mandolin' featurette. Maybe these were meant to be on the disc and they got pulled for some reason (DTS soundtrack took up too much space?). Wouldn't be surprised to see them turn up on a Special Edition in a year or two's time. :(
