Dammit! :(
poor fella, was in the news a few months back. Had lost the ability to draw (through arthritis iirc). This is a very sad loss, and I personally will miss him. And Morph.
Oh no :(
He had been very ill for a long time.
RIP Tony :(

R.I.P :(
Not another, it's been an awful start to the year for Celeb deaths.

It was his strokes that took away his ability to draw.
Very sad news. I can't draw for toffee, but I always loved watching Hartbeat when I was a kid.
Not another one :(
RIP Tony :(

Oh that's so sad! :(
I did wonder who was going to be the third one!
You're one late as John Mortimer was the third but I don't think he got a mention on the rolling RIP thread.
Oh yeah of course! I read about him but somehow thought he'd died years ago!
And David Vine too so we're due another tomorrow.
Very said, I always used to enjoy Hartbeat and Morph when I was a kid.
Really sad. I learnt to appreciate drawing and stetching through a lot of his shows.

RIP
Enjoyed Hartbeat (not a fan of the viewers' gallery bit), and always liked the way Hart enjoyed doing what he was doing for its own sake, unlike those who came after him who just seemed to be using kids tv purely as a stepping stone in to Showbiz.
Damn, another of my childhood heroes gone. :(
RIP Tony.

:(
How old was he though? He must've been about 60 when he did Hartbeat.
I only just saw the news on the Yahoo! home page. And raced to post the news on here, to see that someone had beat me to it. You gotta be quick on here!
Yes very sad news. I didn't think he was that old actually. I thought he'd be about 70 now. I'm not old enough to remember him from Vision On which ran from 1965-1976. But I do remember him well from the follow up shows Take Hart(1977) and Hartbeat(1984). Allways used to enjoy watching those shows. Tony had a gentle personality and genuine enthusiasm for his art work. I remember sending in one of my pictures for inclusion in the Gallery slot(with that memorable music from The Deer Hunter). But unfortunately it never got shown!
Sad news though, sad news.
Did anyone ever get anything shown in The Gallery? I sent several things over the years and never had any shown. Tony went on my 7 year old **** list after that!
Chances are they were all done by bbc production staff and if it were today it would be a big scandal that brings down television as we know it!

Vision Off!
It's not the fact I think it's bad taste, it's just really, really crap. :oh-hum:
Do we have any news on Mr Bennett ? (think it was Take Hart series ?)

Oh god seeing that's made me feel really sad.
I loved Hart Beat when I was little. Tony Hart was one of the people who fuelled my passion for art at an early age.
Really sad news.
Rest in peace Tony.

It's Lorne. It wouldn't be a death thread if he didn't make a crap joke.
Actually it's not just 'death threads' - he seems to revel in any thread that involves misfortune. Very odd.

tony hart was a staple of my childhood yet there is always some dickhead that thinks he is being cool and edgy when he is about as funny as aids
rip mate
Jeez, I said "Vision Off!"
It's not like I ripped up the ******* DVD Forums book of condolence!!
It's not edgy, it's just amazingly unfunny. Have an internet tomato Lorne, you suck.
What was Morph's mate called?
Chaz or is that a joke? ;)
No joke, just couldn't remember. Complete blank and no help from google!
Anyway, ta!

No I don't.
Thread about someone dying of cancer - Lorne makes a joke
Thread about someones friend killing themself - Lorne makes a joke
Every thread in the world ever, about a celebrity dying - Lorne makes a joke.
So, so predictable.

I was waiting for a decent gag that's all. :D
When I read "Vision Off!" earlier I was going to post "sorry but ". I found it funny and I adored Tony Hart. But then I find the most inappropriate things funny. So sue me!

Hey I'm not playing the morally outraged here (Richie). I think anything is fair game for comedy, but you are trying a little too hard to crack a joke in every single rip-thread, hence 'predictable'
It was the Swayze thread btw...
and yet the Swayze thread has the "no-one puts Swayze in the coroner" line that many people have voted for as "post of the year".
I think this is more a personal thing than anything Lorne has actually "said" in this thread. Can't everyone just drop it and concentrate on what the thread is actually for?
I just commented because the joke itself was so bad. I mean, really bad. I ain't morally outraged and chances are that coroner quote was half inched from another forum or blog like dlisted, Richie ;)

Get a ******* room, you two.
Jeez. :(
Another chunk of my childhood dies - Vison On, Take Hart and Hartbeat. All essential viewing.
RIP Tony.

I never quite realise why Vision On was so wierd when I was a kid. It took me a while to realise it was intended for the deaf.
A sad loss :(

I'm running a sweepstake as to whether him, Derek Griffiths or Floella Benjamin will pop their clogs first.
Any jokes that can be mustered on chucking his ashes through the round window are most appreciated.

RIP :(
Someone from the days when children's tv meant an adult presenting a show or talking to kids....as opposed to now when they're all presented by near kids.
Another firm fixture of my childhood tv viewing leaves us :(
