excellent review and i agree with the sentiments. I will hesitate before seeing any future Burton movies.

Why keep on comparing it to the original though? Its not replacing the original, its a movie on its own and thus should be viewed that way.
You also mention in your claim that Hollywood is running out of ideas, with Attack of the Clones being one of your examples. This particular film is being funded by an independant film house called Lucasfilm.
I have to disagree with the review on most points - I thought it was really enjoyable with Tim Roth as General Thade absolutely superb.
But I agree that it ain't Tim Burton - why did they even sign him up for it? And Marky Mark Wahlberg was absolutely abysmal. But according to Tim Burton, the way Mark played his character was requested by Tim himself - maybe he doesn't like Wahlberg and so wanted to make him look awful on screen! :D
If you check out my cinema review of the film, you'll see i actually quite enjoyed it. Second time round however, the film was dire!

Second time round and you are still calling Thade a gorilla?!?

My main problem with it was that the main town looked like it was in a studio. It totally took away the believability for me. Also, why the hell did TIm Roth's gorilla always grimace? even when he was on his own he was always snarling etc...
...and the ending! boy! I think it just wanted to confuse us with something thats not explanable instead of doing an ending ala, memento, vanilla sky. Where its believable when you anylise the film.
I saw this at the cinema and although I enjoyed it, I wont be buying the DVD.
The best part of this film was the ape who was played by the guy who's in Private Parts (the one who played howard sterns manager.... K, W eeeeennnnnnn B C! *in thick accent*
whoops, i'll edit that now! Thanks Accident Man! :brickwall
