Why does my Half Life 2 not load (Vista x64)

It is weird. It was working a while back and then jsut stopped. It loads part way, I get to the bit where it says loading and "64-bit mode acitive" and then it just stops and sits there and never goes to the menu.

I can run Episode one and the other Orange Box games with no problems though. Have deleted and re-installed and updated HL2 but no joy.
