Saw an advert saying the QI is moving to BBC1 for the new series starting last Friday, so I Sky+'d it, however I also saw QI XL which was a 45min episode with the same guests and episode synopsis but showing as EPI 3/8. Is this right?

I noticed that too, i think they might count the christmas episode as part of the new series so that would be another in this series don't know what the other is.

Yep, the episode last Friday was episode three of the new "F" series, the first was the Children in Need ep and the second and was the Christmas one.

And yep, QI XL is just a slightly extended version of the same ep broadcast on the Saturday night on BBC2.

Cheers, will delete the Friday showing and stick with the XL
