Anyone watch this last night? I don't normally watch this kind of stuff, but this guy was 19 years old and was 56 stone. He had parked himself in a seat for three years in which he ate, crapped, ****, watched dvds and played games. His dear old mother, bless her, was so good to him bringing him his double orders from McDonalds all the time.
Bloody clueless she was. Treating him like a baby, feeding him and changing his massive nappy! He decides he wants help so he gets winched to hospital and has part of his stomach cut off then has his stomach reduced to the size of a banana. Meanwhile his mother gets therapy and is told not to feed him. The minute he gets home the first thing his mother does is cook him up some hotdogs drizzled in sauce and mustard!
I've no sympathy for this kind of thing at all. When he stood up to get washed like an elephant in the zoo, his arse was practically up at the back of his neck because he had sat on it for so long. It was flat as a pancake. Lovely stuff :gag:

Saw this on the channel guide but couldnt bring myself to watch.
How the **** can someone let themselves get to this stage?
Man it was sick....couldn't believe that anyone could ever get to that size and not being able to go the toilet is a sad thing indeed.
The bit in the shower was hard for the guy washing him...poor guy...imagine sifting through all those layers to clean the muck out.
Watched this with the missus last night...
Unbelievable that someone could do this really, no self control whatsoever.
Starting to think that McD's etc should have pictures of this guy on them as a warning!

mmm so glad I'm reading this just before I bite into my lunch today!
The mother was really weak willed throughout his treatment and gave in to his every demand. At least she finally put her foot down at the end and told him to get off his arse.
Wonder if he's lost anymore than the 30 stone at the end of the program, or if he's piled it on again since?

When they lanced off a huge chunk of his belly fat and stuck it on the scales after a lengthy, tough and harrowing operation, it weighed 69 lb.
Hilariously, and tactlessly, one of the nurses in the background did a "Bill and Ted" and shouted "Sixty-nine, dude!!!"
Cracked me up.
I've seen several documentaries like this before, usually there's someone who's making the problem worse like mummy dearest. I remember something in the news last year about a parent being accused of abuse because her kid was obese, but really it is a form of abuse even though they don't intend harm.
The thing is, I don't even blame the mum, what's the dad's excuse? It's clear that the mum was troubled and the son didn't know any better. Surely the dad could have talked some sense into her.
I'd imagine that the 30st was a very recent figure, rather than when the camera's left. I think it was 20st when they stopped filming.
I think surgery should have been a final option though, clearly he lost a lot of weight prior to surgery.

Least they'd fit perfectly :D

Don't you remember, he was an electrician and "constantly on call" - that got a laugh out of us. 'Constantly on call' doesn't mean 'always out of the house', but it certainly seemed like he wasn't around most of the time. Probably found reasons to get out of there.
I think surgery should have been a final option though, clearly he lost a lot of weight prior to surgery.
When you're that size to begin with though, being put on a hospital diet would mean big losses. He would've needed some surgery either way in order to remove the stretched flabs of skin as he lost weight.

Removing his mother's head would surely have been a better move?

I'm sure he would have had a skin lift, but I'd imagine that's better than a gastric bipass or removing all that fat. Chances are he'd have to have another skin lift anyway.
Perhaps dad was out of the house but I'm sure he was able to be at home enough to say something.

The woman hampered his recovery, over-fed him, and within hours was delivering junk food to his pit of a room. How can you not blame her?
Both parents are a disgrace.
However, fat people being washed down like buses is always funny, so at least their mis-treatment of their son gave me 40 mins of entertainment.
There was another one I saw here, not sure if it was follow on or before this one but was for the half ton woman and was just as disturbing
