I've been slowly adding to my animation collection for a while now and have been wondering about this series. I've never seen it but, for my sins, own the live action film version!!!
I've heard that the animated show is much better than the movie (not hard to imagine), but would really appreciate some views from people who've seen/own the DVD's.
Also, are the R2 dvd's cut compared to the R1's? I know there are only 2 discs available in R2, so is it best to go for R1 for the complete set?
Hope someone can help & many thanks in advance.

Someone must've seen these - either R1 or R2!
I have the first 3 on lowly VHS and I can assure you that they pee on the film from a great height (and I actually liked the film...hope that answers your question :D

all 3 series are available in one region 1 box set-it is excellent and better value than the region 2 discs.get it!
Like salty sam says the whole 3 series are available in one Ultimate boxset packaged along with a bonus fourth disc much like the R2 Aliens boxset. I think you can get it from www.amazon.com for about £35 delivered if you use the voucher codes in the bargain forum. If you are not bothered by the boxset then I think cheekster in the dvd classifieds forum has the three R1 discs for sale for £20 delivered.
The unfortuante thing is the series is left at abit in the air as no more series were made and the third series was left in no mans land. I had heard rumours last year that Todd Mcfarlane was making an Anime style feature in Japan but have heard nothing since. Probably still too busy making toys and not bothering with the comic no doubt.
Oh and yes, the animated series kicks crap on the film. No bowing to a kid audience.

The animated series is great but best bet is to stick to the comic

Well i'm a huge comic book fan, i literally have thousands of 'em, but i have the complete opposite opinion on this. I found the comics to be quite poor to be honest. McFarlane may be admired as a artist but i found his writing to be very average at best. This doesn't appear to be just my opinion either as he brought in other writers as early as issue 10 and hasn't actually written the comic in years. The animated series however i really enjoyed, although the parts i liked most were the scenes involving Sam & Twitch (tho nothing to match the Spawn/S&T meetup in Brian Michael Bendis' S&T run). I don't have the box set, but do own the 3 R1 original discs. It's true that the series is open ended but Todd seems to have all his time used up fighting court cases than to concentrate on any animated series. It may be worthwhile just buying the season 1 disc and seeing what you think before commiting to the rest.
Alan!
