View Full Version : Sony dvd vs Pioneer
Right, I want to spend about £300, and in the running is Pioneer 545 and Sony DVPNS700. Audio playback is an issue as well as watching da movies.
opinions please?

I'd personally go for the Sony. I doubt there's much between them in terms of picture/sound plus the Sony has Super Audio CD capability, and also a few cool gimmicks like bookmarking favourite scenes etc etc.
Both players are highly rated by the press.

I have the Sony 700 and it's fantastic audio visually speaking. It can be had for around £300 from http://www.hifibitz.co.uk
Go for it!!

Yeah, my mistake, it's got a 50 disc memo thing though. I assume thats that same thing as my 735 where it remembers settings for particular discs.

If you`re concerned about audio cd playback, then consider the Marantz DV4100OSE or DV4200. The Pioneer has the edge over the sony for audio replay. However, also consider the Panasonic DVDRA61 and Pioneer DV636A as both these models have DVD-A rather then sonys SACD... I personally have a Sony DVPS9000ES and prefer the sound of DVD-A discs, rather then SACD, but geta demo and see which is for you :)
