Hello,

Can anyone please help, I just got one of these recorders and followed the setup in the manual, however I now have to access SKY+ through channel 19 of the tv channel on the recorder. I really want it to operate as it did previously with Sky+ being the main operating system of the setup and the recorder to be an extension of the sky+ box, ist this possible and how would could I configure this?

One other thing, will all DVD's upscale or would some copies not upscale?

Many Thanks

Ben

OK - from memory;

Scart from Sky+ TV Output to TV
Scart from Sky+ VCR Output to DVD recorder.

HDMI to TV assuming that you've HD TV, otherwise there won't be any upscaling.

Hope this helps Ben.

Thanks very much I'll try it.

Can you answer my question about DVD's? will copied DVD's not upscale on this machine? Is that the multi region thing?

Thanks Again

Ben:)

The setup now seems to work as previously before I had the recorder, but the recorders does not work until i turn the sky+ box to standby, so how do I now record from sky?

Is there any way I can mirror the Sky+ setup on the recorder channels and just use it as an extension?

Am I missing something? do I need to change settings somewhere?

Should the aerial input from the sky+ box to the digital in or analogue?

Thanks

Your DVD recorder will upscale any DVD providing you have your recorder connected by an HDMI lead to your TV and watching TV via HDMI input. You won't see any difference if you're only watching by Scart.

Also if you have your DVD recorder connected by HDMI then to watch the recorder while Sky + is on, switch TV input to HDMI. Note that HDMI doesn't have the same automatic switching facility that Scart does.

If you've got a spare Scart socket on your TV then you can also connect the DVD directly to it with another scart lead. Keep the other connections as they are now.

Bear in mind that SD content is being upscaled anyway on LCD/Plasma televisions (to the panel's native resolution which will depend on whether it's a hd ready or full hd model) - if it's over hdmi, it just depends if the scaler in your television is better or worse than the one in your source. It's therefore worth experimenting.
