Never ever had a problem with deliveries from the above but just recently got hit with a customs bill for £9.50 for a £28 delivery of just 4 discs even with a declaration of just $18 gift!!!!
The worst bit was that the week before I had 5 discs delivered no probs, but the very best worst bit was that the hit delivery contained 2 amary cases with sliding discs included just to round it off nicely!!!!
So the moral is...........

Blane has already stated that the real value was £28 (well over the £18 limit), so it's probably not a good idea to prove that to Customs!

I'd be interested to know how Customs calculated the charge, as DDD House have never included an invoice with any orders that I've received from them.

fair enough, but the first £18 should be vat free,so he should only get hit on the £10 over ,which would be tax of around £1.75,they still owe him nearly a fiver, not much, but it is the principle.!

£1.75? not if you include the new and increased 'consiginia' handling fee

If it is over £18 you get taxed on everything. The £18 is not a personal allowance. If the item is less than £18 (including the cost of poatage) it is standard policy to waive the charge otherwise it 17.5% VAT + 5% ish duty + the handling charge of the post office/ courier. Expensive!

Not happy, just been hit with a customs charge £11.22 for 3 disks with a value of 215 HK$ (£19.odd) How the hell do they work out how much i've paid for those disks without an invoice? Also the package was labelled with a value of 15 USD.

They obviously base the value on the price of UK DVDs they probably think each DVD cost £20 and so charge you VAT for this, the barstewards:mad: .

Ouch  I got hit with ~£8 this morning on 3 disks -- maybe next time it might be an idea to ask if they can mark the package value down?

I got hit with a £9 custom charge today too. I think they've cottoned on to what DDDhouse have been marking on their packages....:(
