Just got a new Toshiba 32Z13 and the geometry is slightly out. Can it be fixed via the service menu ? and how do I access this menu ?

Go read this - http://www.keohi.com/keohihdtv/usefulinfo/toshiba/servicedesignermode.html

Bear in mind that before you change anything in the service menu ALWAYS write it down in case you have to revert back to defaults. The main things which effect geometry are - PARA, CNR, HIT, WID. Be very careful when adjusting things in the service menu. I'm not sure if you can access a 56 point convergence grid on your tv ? If you can then you can also use this to clear up geometry issues. Turn red, blue guns off and try and get the green grid as straight as possible.

Although I'd say before changing the green grid try and fix geometry problems by adjusting the parameters I mentioned above. If you need any more help post straight back.

Thanks HBK757, had a quick look at that site, it complicated stuff. Not sure if I'm brave enough to give it a go or not.

Oh as far as changing - HIT, WID,PARA,CNR,HPOS,VPOS just make sure you write down the original values and you will not have any problem. Even if you get it wrong and mess the picture up, just adjust all values back to default. The only way you can mess something up permanantly is if you adjust the green gun in convergence and get it very wrong. Just keep reading the service menu info on the site over and over and you'll soon be confident enough to have a go. :D

Another thing to consider, if your Toshiba is like mine, is that the different aspect modes have separate settings usually linked to only one of the others. This means that you have to mess in individual aspect ratio's to get it right. Also NTSC has different effects to Pal and on mine when I used Video Essentials NTSC dvd the effect on PAL playback worked differently!!! Try to use a PAL dvd with THX Optimode which should give more accurate results for European viewing.
