www.steampowered.com have a christmas sale on.

The site is getting battered due to the volume of visitors but I have seen

Bioshock for £3.49
The Complete Valve Pack for £39

Everything seems to discounted even if only a little.

For those that dont know Steam is a site for legally downloading PC games.

I found a topic in the steam forums that other peeps saw it too.

I suspect they launched it early by mistake and pulled it.

So no bargain yet

It's now live on my Steam - £3.49 for Bioshock. Looks like (nearly) everything is reduced by 10% or 20% at least. Post if you find any more super deals!

Edit - found these all so far at 50% off:

Team Fortress 2 - £6.99
Red Orchestra - £4.49
Multiwinia - £2.99
I-Fluid - £2.99
Penguins Arena - £4.99
Counter-Strike: Source - £6.99
Civilization IV - £8.49

Complete Valve Pack - £40 - Bargain of the decade tbh, Orange Box and Left 4 Dead and loads of other Valve games no-one bothered playing (like Half Life 1/Counterstrike/Day of Defeat/Team Fortress 1)

Complete iD Pack - £18.99 - Bargain of last decade (no Quake IV though).

Audiosurf - £2.99 - Tetris meets Guitar Hero on whatever song you want

Some great bargains there, especially Bioshock.

Went for Bioshock even though I have it on console already, and also UT3 and Quake Wars, nice spot.

Got Bioshock and the Unreal pack. The Valve pack is seriously tempting too.

Anyone know how much disc space is needed for Bioshock?

Never used steam before. Can you burn the games to disc once you have downloaded or do you have to download them again if you lose them for whatever reason

Never used steam before. Can you burn the games to disc once you have downloaded or do you have to download them again if you lose them for whatever reason You can backup content into a folder, so you can re-import that for whatever reason.

I don't think you can burn them to CD, but you can back them up on a local hard disc. Maybe you can burn the back up files onto a CD to save you re-downloading, but you can't make a CD that is equivalent to a retail CD.

Just bought Bioshock for £3.49 - what a bargain.

I would recomend that people avoid the game I-Fluid as picked it up for £2.99 earlier only to find that it doesn't work (and lots of posts on the forum from people having exactly the same problem). The developer has stopped responding to people asking for help and Steam are not giving people refunds

Ah. Too late. I wonder if it'll work for me...

How did you pay? I paid through PayPal, and if it doesn't work and Steam won't refund, I'll just start a complaint through them.

I'd be careful doing that, as Steam have been known to disable accounts where credit card chargebacks or PayPal disputes have been raised.

As it happens, I-Fluid works on mine. It isn't any good, but it works...

I'm not surprised people are having trouble - it installs no end of extras to work - DirectX, PhysX, something from Creative and Visual C++ runtime.

If Steam disabled my account, then they'd have to release all my purchases so far from their DRM, which wouldn't exactly be a hardship.

But since they wouldn't do this, it would be a bit of a problem!

They would have to do no such thing !
You simply lose all your purchases so far...

Is there no way of installing to a specific location? Just bought Bioshock, clicked on Install and off it goes onto my c:
Never put games on that drive due to space issues etc. Had a look around all the options and there's nothing that gives you a choice (unless the game is only downloading and then you install manually?)

You should be able to install Steam to any drive you want. Not sure if you can change after you've installed. Have you tried copying the folder across to another drive? http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=106251 Is an old thread, but the theory should still work.

I think steam alwaus puts the game files in the root of its install directory.

I think steam alwaus puts the game files in the root of its install directory.

It does. So if you want your games elsewhere, you need to move your Steam install. There is a how to in the Steam technical help FAQ's somewhere on their site.

Just backed up the files and reinstalled everything to another drive.
My cable modem has been constantly recieving data for ages now since it was installed. Steam's not even running but sure it's still doing something (good 30-40 minutes solid now)

I think you can just copy the steam folder anywhere you like, delete the clientregistry.blob file, and then rerun steam. Once you've logged in it'll then remember the new drive location.

Bioshock for £3.49 is an absolute steal. I almost felt guilty paying that much for such an amazing game - almost :) Already own it on the 360 but as I always intended to replay the game, this is as good an excuse as any.

Funny thing is they are charging more for Quake!

FPS, but just buy it. At this price I'm tempted to get it just in case I lose my DVD copy.
