Hello everyone - my first post - so take it easy on me please !

I've had a quick hit of the search feature, and can't find any previous items around this - so hopefully it's not a FAQ.

I recently (i.e. today ;) ) purchased my first RCE Region 1 disc. I ordered it from the web site www.play.com which includes a nice FAQ with a section on RCE, and an unofficial list of players supposed to be unaffected by RCE discs. The Pioneer DVD 535 is on that list - and since I own one - I thought I'd be ok.

Not so. :(

Anyone else own a 535 and got it to work with a RCE disc?

If so - how?

My DVD player was purchased about a year ago from Richer Sounds, pre-chipped to make it a Multi-Region machine... Is there a company I can get to modify it again to get around this annoying little glitch ?

Cheers fellas / ladies :)

Put another region 1 disc in first (without RCE) then swap them over after a few seconds, this works for me.

Alternatively if there is a way you can manually select the region, this should work.

I am SO stupid.

Next time I will find the bit of paper which came with the region hack - and read it *first*.

There is indeed a way to manually set the region - which I did - and it works fine.

I'm off to - erm - eat my hat or something :)

Thanks though!

The standard 'mod' that Pioneer issue themselves WILL play RCE discs.

Most 'decent' hi-fi shops will be able to do it for you. It doesn't involve anything more than plugging a pc into a small hole in the back of the player and altering the software in your player.
This may be your best bet.
