The new Anchor Bay 'Book of the Dead' Limited edition of Evil Dead comes out next month. Does anybody if it really will be a limited edition ? Or is it just a gimmick ? Know any figures ?

I heard thats it's not numbered, but will only be available for a limited time. I know that's what's happening with the r1, but I'm not certain this'll happen with the r2. Maybe someone could confirm this?

I saw someone selling it on Ebay ("it will be ready to ship by 5th march") and the bidding was up to £30!!! There are some proper mugs about these days.

Yeah,
there isnt a set number available. Instead the book edition will be pulled off the shelve on a set date.

A bit off topic but wasn't Halloween R2 supposed to be Limited to 10.000

I've seen more than that traded on the classifieds here :D

There must be a finite number produced and I seriously doubt unsold copies will be pulled off the shelf on a certain date - there is no economic sense in that. I suspect they'll remain available until sold (duh!) but orders for new stock of the BoD edition will cease after a certain date. It kind of gives the urgency for people to rush to buy it without limiting the number Anchor Bay can sell within a specified period. So "for a limited time" doesn't necessarily mean that it will end up being that scarce. That's what I think anyway:)

So yes... gimmick!

I meant that production would stop on a set date,
not that they would be taken off the shop shelf on a set date.

The R2 is NOT limited. The R1 version was.

Neither R2 or R1 is two disc (just a misunderstanding with some retailers).

It sounds remarkably like Disney's modus operandi

Don't forget the "Special Limited Edition" of Saving Private Ryan, either.

Is the R2 disc identical to the R2 disc released last year? The reason I ask is because in Anchor Bays advertisement currently doing the rounds the disc is shown, and while it has a different picture printed on the disc when compared with the previous release the catalogue number is identical (ABD4001) - I guess I need to get out more :).

That set date being when everybody who wanted has bought it.
