General AV receiver question. Do I need the same type of output FROM the receiver as the inputs INTO the receiver? So for example, if I have one device connected via HDMI and another connected via Component, do I need both a component and HDMI out to the TV, or could I just use an HDMI cable alone?

Thanks

Depends entirely on the amp/receiver - many can upconvert all signals to HDMI (requiring only the 1 cable going to the TV), but others don't - the popular Sony DG820 doesn't for example, so if you connect something to it by component, you'll also need a component connection going out.
