I am 1 HDMI port short in my TV thus need a HDMI switch, preferably an auto one that takes it power from the HDMI cable itself.

I have found this from Amazon (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=8&url=http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001GGRVYU/thedvdforums-21) but with no user review i am reluctant to spend £25 on it. Does anyone have any recommendation for a 3 ports one?

Get one of the SLX/Philex/Thor (all the same company). I own 2 and always buy them for people who ask. They work perfectly in automode and they can be switched manually if need be (never had to do that). Don't spend more than £30-£33.

Search eBay for SLX HDMI and you'll get something like this (http://www.thedvdforums.com/affiliatelink.php?localaffiliateid=44&url=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190274387792) Excellent price that.

Most other items can be a bit dodgy so if you want more then 1 extra socket try something from Argos. Maplin or ASDA etc. If you want truly auto then get that SLX/Philes/THor as you'll not know it's there.

Most of these auto switched are a bit dodgy with SkyHD BTW -so Google that.

Picked up the joytech tri-link from amazon

Works via infrared and also has an extension for the ir sensor so you can hide the box away. Can be powered by power supply (supplied) or a usb socket (most devices have them now)

I wouldnt recommend the swich to not be powered as this can affect the signal. £15.15 from

Got me one of the Thor auto ones too, and it's been absolutely brilliant. It's only good for 2 into 1, but there's no need to power it or use a remote or whatever.

As JJ said, the auto switching is iffy with SkyHD (and perhaps V+) boxes because the HDMI output does not send enough power to activate the auto function.

That looks good except needing external power, i don't need another remote, just self powered, auto switch really .

I have the Joytech switch and it works great at switching between my bluray player, 360 and DVD recorder. Can even be plugged into an USB port if you're short of sockets!
