Ok well I have a STR-DB1070 and some B&W 601s2, I would really like to use the surround sound capabilities on my amp.

I may be able to get some second had Bose AM10 (5.1) speaker set-up (second hand)

Could I stick with my B&W 601s and use the Bose only for the Rear, front Centre and Rear Centre?

Or will this sound odd. Unlike the old 940 I don’t think the 1070 will let you use 2 sets of speakers and switch between the two.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You could do that, but the front soundstage would sound a tad disjointed. In fact you'd probably be better off forgoing the centre speaker altogether and running a 'phantom centre', rather than using that Bose.

With the rear speakers it doesn't matter half as much what you use to be honest, so the Bose should be fine as surrounds.

Wire it up and listen to waht it sounds like, but I think you'll be looking for a better matched centre sooner rather than later.
