I placed am order with MVC during their Christmas/New Year sale.
6 items in total, 2 of them shipped within a few days.
Also within a few days I received 2 separate e-mails saying that the other 4 DVDs (Halloween x2, and Evil Dead x2, one of each for me and a friend) would be delayed for 5 and 9 days respectively due to some stocking issue.
So I waited.
And waited.
Then last week I decided to e-mail them to find out what was going on.
I got a reply back saying that "on return of my order", my credit card would be credited with the amount for the 4 DVDs.
The issue I have is that I didn't return any order, because I never received it!!!!!
Has anybody else had similar problems with MVC??
It seems to me that they had these DVDs for sale on their site (at very good prices I must admit, about £9 each) but then realised that they didn't actually have them from whatever supplier they were getting them from at that price, but they wouldn't honour my order despite comfirming the prices back to me.
The upshot of all this is that I urge everyone to not order from MVC in the future, I've never come across such an unprofessional retailer, either on or off line.

To answer my question, dishonourable or incompetent, I would say a bit of both, but a bit more dishonesty..............

I don't know about dishonourable, but they are very incompetent:

godfather boxset dispatched in a sleeve with inserted top and bottom flaps - the top flap was glued in place but the bottom flap was not connected to the sleeve at all. How this got through the post system in one place is a complete mystery to me!

Corrs at Lansdowne Rd well protected packaging without a scrape, for a disc which appeared to have been stamped on by someone. Obviously happened in their warehouse but would they accept that - no, of course not. "It must have happened in the post", they said. In that case a postie must have steamed open the cardboard box, smashed up the disc, placed it back and then resealed it perfectly. Doesn't quite gel, does it?

Needless to say, I haven't gone back and placed any more orders - especially at the prices they charge! The Sale stuff is ok (when you get it in one piece), but their normal prices are stupid!
