Could someone who has bought the new UK releases of "Everyone Says I Love You" or "Bullets Over Broadway" tell me if they're anamorphic, please?

Yes - plus I just picked up "mighty aphrodite", "Bullets.." and "Celebrity" 2 for 3 at £12.99 each @ Woolworths today. That make's them about £8.70 each compared to Play's £11.99 - Bargain!

Thanks! That's the best news I've heard in a long time.

Almost picked up three of these myself but noticed that Deconstructing Harry is in 1.33:1, full frame. Is this it's OAR?

Sounds like pan-and-scan to me. The R1 release is 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, which is the aspect ratio of almost all Woody Allen's films (Manhattan being the obvious exception).

re Deconstructing harry

I have the R1 which is 1.85 anamorphic on one side and 4:3 open matte on the other. The R2 is probably open matte so you get no cropping of width and some extra height. Haven't seen it myself though.

I emailed Woolies.co.uk straightaway to cancel my order of Deconstructing Harry but they replied this morning to say it's too late (it's been processed, etc. Yeah right), so I'll let you know in a couple of days whether it's p&s, open-matte, or w/s.

Just checked the disc and it is indeed 4:3 and, unfortunately, it seems to be pan-and-scan. There isn't much headroom at all so I can't believe it's an open-matte transfer.

Can someone confirm if Everyone Says I Love You is definitely anamorphic widescreen before I order it?

Yes it is definately anamorphic, though it doesn't say this anywhere on the box.
Pretty damned fine transfer as well ... shame about the mono sound but that's Woody Allen for you

Thanks for the confirmation - I'll order it now. It is a shame about the sound. It doesn't matter that much for his other movies but this one would really benefit from a 5.1 track (or at least stereo).
