I think this has been posted before ... But I'm ill and can't be bothered to look that hard ... saw this on the DVDFile today

Soderbergh's acclaimed Traffic to Criterion for a new deluxe two-disc special edition, to be released on 5/28. Disc one includes an anamorphic widescreen transfer and English Dolby Digital 5.1 track, and no less than three commentaries with director Steven Soderbergh and screenwriter Stephen Gaghan; producers Laura Bickford, Edward Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz, and consultants Tim Golden and Craig Chretien; and composer Cliff Martinez. Disc two features deleted scenes with commentary from Soderbergh and Gaghan, a film processing demonstration illustrating how the look of the sequences set in Mexico were achieved; an editing demonstration with commentary by editor Stephen Mirrione, an interactive demonstration of the dialogue editing process, outtakes with multiple angles of two scenes, and U.S. Customs trading cards of the narcotics-detecting K-9 squad. Retail is $39.95, and the current USA movie-only edition will remain on the market.

Seconded.

Pity there is no DTS track. But i guess this'll be my first Criterion purchase. I wonder if they'll consider an Oceans 11 Criterion??? :D

Dunno about anyone else but I didnt like traffic at all, thourght it was a bit poncey, going around thinking its a good film cos it seems that the camera men didnt know how to hlod the camera straight.

IMHO of course

I seem to recall Soderbergh did a lot of the camera work himself using shoulder mounted cameras. Could explain your perception of shakey camera work, but then again, maybe that's what he wanted to achieve?

for once I'm not gonna get done :) as I didn't bother buying this on dvd up till now as I saw it 3 times at the cinema. Sounds pretty good though, it's always nice to have a commentary.

I recently bought the R2 DVD but I will be upgrading to the Criterion without a doubt, superb film (the Mexico storyline is just class) and the extras look good.

I consider myself pretty clued up on all Criterion news, but this announcement is the first I ever heard of a SE of Traffic.

It's great they're finally getting some recent films out though!

Technically superb and not a preachy story. The shakey camera was suppose to reflect the documentary style.

I hated Traffic and certainly won't be buying it BUT isn't this going to lead now to the Criterion edition of The Game definately arriving now because of the deal with USA Films?
