I've been looking for a new DVD player, and I'm definitely thinking of the above machine.
Anyone had any experience of it, and would they recommend the beast?
Are there any known compatibilty problems? What's the layer change like? And unlike my last two machines, will it play the Godfather in DD without stuttering like a Pop Idol finalist?
Any links or details on it?

Well, it's for sale
here (http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/productdetails.asp?modelcode=SAM-DVDM405)
I also found a review of it via Yahoo that was pretty favourable, but then these are often based on trying one disc (which doesn't give an idea of compatibility problems). Also, reviewers seem to rave about any budget model that has lots of features and doesn't burst into flames when they plug it in.
It can be handset hacked unless you get unlucky and get a particular firmware, but that can be replaced. Crucially for me, it's got a Dobly Digital decoder.
Other than that, I was wondering if anyone with experience of using the machine could tell me what it was like.
Ta.
Well if you follow the progress of the M105 (no DD decoder onboard) then that is now coming with unhackable firmware. I would summise the M405 will be the same making it more than likely you will have a R2 only player.
