has anyone had any trouble with play.com (formerly play247.com) recently??
I mean, about 6 months back if you ordered something, you got it the next day.
The last two times, I keep logging in to the account (which I ordered on sunday and everything it said was in stock) and it still says order taken, even though I ordered it on Sunday.
They never seem to get it to you the next day anymore.
anyone notice the same?
Cheers

Andy They are suffering form too much sucess (to many orders). The delivery was never next day, and I have never had a problem but others have. TBH you either wait or order elsewhere. I can't fault them but there are other good suppliers (like ringos - try the affiliate links).

I have ordered a few things early last year and had them delivered the next day!!!!

I'm disappointed with my most recent purchase. In the past, I have received pre-ordered discs before the official release date. So if, say, Terminator 2 was supposed to be released on a Monday, I received it the Saturday before.
But now I have ordered the Robocop Trilogy (released on Monday). They dispatched it on Sunday. It is now Tuesday and it hasn't arrived yet. They say that delivery takes 3 to 5 days, but I didn't believe this, because all previous deliveries have arrived the next day. So it is disappointing to get an actual 3 to 5 day delivery now
I ordered some discs over the weekend from play. 4 were in stock, and it took until 5pm today, before they changed to 'processing'. Never had that before.
Hopefully things will get better, as you now get 'processing' for a few days most of the time.

I got a e-mail today saying it (OUATIC III) had been posted and should reach me in 3-5 days :)
I'm not complaining about waiting a few weeks cuz it only cost me £11.99 :p
I have had a disc showing processing for days only to go to posted showing the day after it went to "processing", the slip wiht the disc when it arrived showed this date too. So it looks like the updates to order pages are not getting done frequently.

The exact same thing happened to me with OUATIC 3.
Order placed about a week before release date, so i just presumed it shipped on or maybe even before the release date, but when it didn't arrive I checked the website and it said "order Taken".
I had to e-mail them about it, and they came back asking me could I forward them on my address because they lost it!!!
Sounds a bit unprofessional to me..........

Well after the latest happenings I advise everybody to be careful when ordering from play.
Here's the story:
I've ordered the Cape Fear box which was shipped on January 9.
It usually takes 3 to 5 days for shipments to get here (Ireland).
After 14 days nothing's arrived so I send an e-mail inquiry asking them politely to look into
this.
I received an automated message saying they get back next 24 hours.
Waited 3 days, no reply.
Sent another e-mail (still polite), received automated message. Waited 2 days, no reply.
Sent another e-mail informing them that I'll cancel all remaining pre-orders and contact the credit card company to claim the money back, should I get no reply from them during the next 3 days (still polite).
Received an automated message.
Guess what happened then?
Nothing!
No, wait, they did find the time to send me an e-mail informing me that another one of my orders, which was released in the meantime, had been shipped.
Now that's what I call service!
Of course, I've cancelled the remaining pre-orders and will get in touch with the c-card company after the usual 60 days waiting period.
I'm not impatient and don't need to have everything delivered in 24 hours, but when inquiries about stuff I paid for are ignored, I get a little annoyed.
There seems to be a problem with the (Irish?) mail at the moment in general, orders from different suppliers take unusually long (Ezy-DVD, normally less than 10 days, shipped on Jan 11 - not arrived yet, DVD Empire, normally around 14 days, shipped on Jan 18, not arrived yet).
But I think a reply to one of 3 e-mails is not too much to ask for, is it?
Anyway, I might be the only one experiencing this, but everybody better be careful, I'm on the lookout for another supplier for region 2 discs.
I have. Last three discs

But its wednesday today ?.
So let me see if I've got this right.
You've cancelled all remaining orders because your die hard set didnt arrive within 30 or so hours after shipping ?.
Sorry so it is Wednesday. No I'm not cancelling the orders because of just this one, I didn't cancel after Tomb, I didn't cancel after Stargate, it is now three orders. Other companies can get deliveries on the release day or the latest the day after, why should play be any different.

I had used Play a number of times without a problem, then made an order of three Space 1999 disks, one was in stock and came within a week, another a short while later. Then about six weeks after the order, the remaining disk order status changed to show that it had been posted - an couple of hours after the order had been made, but did not show a tracking number, which all the R2 disks do.
Contacted play via email, poor response; even less joy. Phoned them up and eventually (10 - 15 attempts) got through. A helpful but largely non-plussed reply ensured a re-order.
Now it get's worse.
Despite being told it's in stock, the re-order goes to awaiting. Time passes. More time passes. It then goes to dispatched, tracking number and all. More time goes by and thumbs are twiddled. Using the Post Office tracking facility as Plays don't work, the number and date are entered and lo and behold: no details exist.
Back to the phone (bless you redial facility) another dispatched and third time lucky this arrives. Other preorders including 60 quid box sets are dispatched with a fifty-fifty rate of the Post office having no record of them.
They insisted that they were being sent and suggested I changed the address (they are sent to work) but if they are getting lost at this end then surely the tracking number would show awaiting confirmation of delivery.
Now that the outstanding orders have been cleared I will not be using them again.

I must admit I got better service from Play last year, certainly a faster turnaround on orders. There was a pretty big delay over in November, however because I ordered a shedload of DVDs at one time (about £150 worth, IIRC) and if you order over a certain amount for some reason they do additional credit checks or summat (could be because my shipping address is about 100 miles from the registered card address), but after contacting them by phone (an arduous task in and of itself) they got it sorted.
Kinda'. Because the next time I placed a big order the same thing happened. This time they upped my limit permanently so it shouldn't be an issue again.
Overall though, I'd rate Play as excellent. They've got large amounts of stock, they restock promptly, their PS2 games are normally £10 cheaper than the shops. And as for people complaining that discs don't arrive on the day of release, well that just seems churlish. Is there nothing else you could watch in the mean time? In the grand scheme of things it ain't that important that you get to see them on the day of release, it's not like the film is suddenly going to become obsolete if you don't see it RIGHT NOW.
Anyhow, I like Play. :)

Hi,
I also like Play.com - so far, no complaints, they even restock quite quickly....
For someone living in Ireland, I think I have waited up to about 7 days to receive goods - though when its free P&P, you wont hear me complaining about a 7-day wait. To date, all orders have been received & so far, I'm a happy customer :)
Might I suggest someone post the contact phone number here, for Play.com, so its available for all concerned ?

Sure, I'll post the number but it's on pretty much all of the pages of the website in the banner at the bottom (and on the contact page).
It's 0845 800 1020. :)
my 2 pence worth....... order a fair few from play and they have definitely got worse IMO, not bothered about not getting a disc on it's day of release but as someone else said it's the communication or lack of it. I've tried getting through by phone and it's always busy, e-mails not replied to, despite sending 3 or 4 times.
About a month ago I had 3 discs go missing, never arrived, OK that's not plays fault but I ask so many times and didn't receive an answer I gave up I sent off a mail cancelling them and also cancelling my details from there system, guess what they soon replied to that!!!! fair do play were willing to send out replacements but as I wrote back it's the lack of information about my orders that other suppliers do offer that I don't like.
so that's it, I don't use them anymore, I've started using Futureent again, and believe it or not I've been getting my orders within 2 days, same price for Region 1's as well.
I know some people have had real bad experiences with them but I bet there's plenty people out there that will tell me the same about play.
If you don't like something that much don't put up with it, use someone else, but make sure you send a mail to play informing them why you won't use them. surely if many people do that they will take notice and hopefully do something about it.
Right I'm going to get my train to go home now.
:)
