Does anyone know if the forthcoming reissue of the Fulci classic is an improvement on the first release that went OOP?

Are the extras the same, and have any new bits been added?

Is the picture quality better?

We discuss it here:

It still doesn't mention how good the reissue is going to be!!!

Is it going to be better than the previous Anchor Bay version?

Sorry, I honestly don't know.:(

Since the print they used for the OOP, anything else would be an improvement.

There's a Forum on www.horrordvds.com, you could try there.
But it's very similar to ZM.

According to the Anchor Bay website it carries the same extras as the OOP disc and a letterboxed picture, which I think is safe to assume is the same one as before as if they had done a new print surely they would have made it 16x9 enhanced.

They're also due to repackage Fulci's discs into three double disc limited editions, the same as they did with Argento, and on that occasion they also just reproduced existing discs, so it wouldn't surprise me if they do it again.

hope that helps

Michael the webmaster at Anchor bay said its exactly the same as the old release, but at a lower price ($14.99).

Apparently they were unable to get a new transfer.

It’s just a re-issue of the old but much much cheaper and Play have it for £10.99. Good job I sold mine when it was worth something.

This film is a 'guilty' pleasure of mine, but I'd leave off buying this DVD as the picture is meant to be full of artifacting (the WORST fault, in my opinion). I think the rights are due to be transferred to another American company, who will (probably) issue a better disc (maybe with decent extras?) in time.

Easily picked up for less than $10 complete with a commentary track. I think there’s a time to complain about the transfer but not when this is attainable for peanuts. I had the OOP disc (sold it when the RR was announced) and the transfer is watchable & by no means the worst I’ve seen. Also bear in mind features such as commentary tracks belong to the companies that make and record them and as such may not be transferred forward to subsequent re-releases.

Aren't US distributors Shriek Show doing a special edition of this?

In any case, even if they are using the same digital widescreen transfer, the compression will be one hell of a lot better!
