View Full Version : Where's the best place/s to go to build my own PC
Recomondations needed for the best place/s to buy the bits needed to build my new PC.
I've got a rough idea of what I want and have come across several websites with good prices, I just wanted to know if there is anywhere else I should try?
The sites I've looked at are:
Tekheads (http://www.tekheads.co.uk/)
Dabs (http://www.dabs.com/home.asp)
Watford (http://www.watford.co.uk/)
CCL Computers (http://www.cclcomputers.co.uk/)
I know about Ebuyer but judging by peoples experience of them on here I don't think I'll use them.
You want the supplier forum really but I can't play Mod over here ;)
Last time I did this I got pretty much everything from www.overclockers.co.uk and www.theoverclockingstore.com
And don't forget www.scan.co.uk
Also, don't ignore autions. Ebay et al can be useful for picking up things like soundcards pretty cheap (new and used). I wouldn't buy second hand hard disks, memory, processors, mobos etc though, although that's probably being a bit over cautious :)

tekheads are good. also, www.theoverclockingstore.com , www.overclockers.co.uk , www.redstore.com , www.dabs.com . used them all in the last month with no problems.
Agree with the above. Shame since closing the bridges on the new athlons is much trickier they overclockers.co.uk no longer offer guaranteed overclocks ;).
http://www.jungle.co.uk can have competetive prices on peripherals (ie, moniters, printers etc.), but wouldn't bother with them for anything which goes inside the case.
Also try http://www.simply.co.uk .

I recently got myself kitted out with stuff from Dabs, Tekheads, Crucial (http://www.qksrv.net/click-582776-5032657?url=http://www.crucial.com/uk/webpromo/) (enter any number to get 15% off) and Chillblast (http://www.chillblast.co.uk/), and I'd recommend them all :)

(Mods: could you change the Crucial URL to the affiliate one that goes to that URL? Cheers :))

Thanks for that lot, I'll give them a go.
You can also use PC Price Index (http://212.67.203.1/) for checking some component prices as well.
The crucial link only seems to offer 5%, anyone know the 15% code

As far as I know it never was 15% - just a mistake by the posters above.
www.ebuyer.com are usually cheap for most things, especially the accessories - fans, network cards, cables, etc. Also take a look at the forum sponsors www.komplett.co.uk

I can't remember exactly since it was 18 months ago ;) but I think the Crucial site originally had their standard prices as being 10% off, hence the promo link gives you 15% off their undiscounted price rather than the usual discounted price from their site.
This later changed so that the voucher gives 5% off their usual price (and no discount mentioned for their usual price).
